Remote Engineering Salaries in 2026: What the Live Data Shows

June 30, 2026·5 min read·55,000 roles live

Most salary data you'll find online is self-reported and years stale. We take a different approach: every figure on our salary pages is computed from the pay ranges published on live job listings, refreshed daily. That makes them a real-time read on what employers are actually offering right now.

01How to read the numbers

We show the median plus the 25th–75th percentile range, broken down by seniority, and always with the sample size. Pay attention to the sample: a median over 400 listings is far more trustworthy than one over 20. Figures are annualised USD equivalents derived from each listing's disclosed range — so a role posting a band of $150k–$190k contributes its midpoint.

02What stands out in 2026

  • Specialised disciplines (ML/AI, DevOps/SRE, security) continue to command a premium over generalist roles.
  • Engineering management and staff/principal IC tracks converge at the top — the senior-IC ceiling has kept rising.
  • Disclosure varies wildly by region: roles tied to certain markets are far more likely to publish a band, which biases naive averages. We surface the sample size so you can judge.
