Job Description

Site supervision & quality

  • Conduct daily site walks to review progress and quality of mechanical works, raise quality observations and update the project team.
  • Inspect HVAC and mechanical installations in accordance with the agreed ITP – chillers, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, CRAH / fan-wall units, ductwork, chilled-water and condenser-water pipework, supports, insulation and controls.
  • Supervise fire protection (sprinkler, hydrant, fire pumps, gaseous suppression), plumbing and drainage installations and, where applicable, cleanroom HVAC, process cooling water, exhaust and other process utilities.
  • Review the Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) developed by the GC; direction on quality and design is to be given through the client in line with the project governance.
  • Verify that equipment is installed in accordance with approved shop drawings, manufacturer requirements and technical specifications; prepare Installation Inspection Reports (IIR) highlighting non-conformances and follow up rectification.
  • Record every defect or issue as an observation; issue NCRs to the GC (copied to the Construction Manager) where works do not comply with contract drawings, approved shop drawings or specifications, and drive timely close-out.
  • Verify that adequate protection of equipment and systems is maintained during construction in line with the client’s Equipment Protection Plan.

Testing & commissioning

  • Witness and verify mechanical testing – pipework hydrostatic / pressure tests, flushing and chemical treatment, ductwork leakage tests, fire protection system tests and testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) – and review test records.
  • Confirm that installations are complete, inspected and signed off before proceeding to commissioning (Level 1–5 / IST), and support fire safety (PCCC) acceptance testing.

Reporting, HSE & close-out

  • Attend project meetings and arrange ad-hoc coordination meetings with the General Contractor (GC), design consultants and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and log GC construction activities; prepare weekly reports covering progress, mock-ups / benchmarks, RFIs, NCRs and technical issues.
  • Assess GC means and methods against the most stringent applicable global, national and local standards and notify the client immediately of any deficiencies.
  • Participate in GC incident investigations, ensuring root causes are established and effective control measures implemented.
  • Support authority inspections, construction acceptance (nghiệm thu), as-built and O&M documentation and handover.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5–8 years’ experience in mechanical / MEP site supervision, preferably on data centres, semiconductor / high-tech manufacturing, industrial plants, mission-critical facilities or large commercial developments.
  • Strong technical knowledge and proven delivery of HVAC, chilled-water, fire protection and plumbing systems; cleanroom or process-utility experience is a strong advantage.
  • Good understanding of Vietnamese codes and standards (TCVN / QCVN, incl. fire safety) and international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA).
  • Valid Grade I or Grade II Construction Practising Certificate (Chứng chỉ hành nghề hoạt động xây dựng) in construction supervision for the relevant discipline – mandatory for Vietnamese nationals.
  • Good spoken and written English – able to write clear site reports and communicate confidently with international clients and consultants.
