Product Engineer (Mid-Level)

Job Description
About the Role
This is a full-stack product engineering role at an early-stage AI recruiting startup, working directly alongside founders and a small team to build the core product. You will own features end-to-end, integrate AI capabilities into real user-facing flows, and help shape technical direction at a critical point in the company's growth.
What You'll Do
Own product features from scoping and design through deployment and iteration in production.
Design APIs and data models, and implement both frontend and backend code.
Ship user-facing experiences that balance usability and performance, iterating based on feedback and metrics.
Integrate LLM and AI capabilities into product flows to make intelligence reliable for end users.
Design and maintain scalable backend services, data schemas, and operational tooling including CI/CD, monitoring, and testing.
Collaborate directly with founders, product, and design to prioritize work and define success metrics.
Participate in architecture and roadmap discussions, making pragmatic tradeoffs suited to early-stage growth.
What We're Looking For
2 to 8 years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping user-facing products.
Strong full-stack skills: TypeScript and React or Next.js on the frontend, plus backend development in Python or Node.js.
Experience with PostgreSQL and cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
Practical, production-focused experience integrating LLMs or AI services into applications (engineering, not research).
Clear product sense and the ability to translate user problems into measurable, practical solutions.
Comfort operating in small teams with limited process, high ambiguity, and broad scope across frontend, backend, and DevOps.
Experience building multi-tenant or enterprise-ready systems, designing APIs, or working with real-time or high-throughput applications is a strong plus.
Background in regulated industries such as healthcare, fintech, or legal, or experience with complex internal tooling, is a plus.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows is a plus.

Salary range: $150,000 to $300,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
