The Benefits Administration Expert is responsible for delivering benefits administration operations for Sandoz India, with a focus on retirals, employee insurance programs and statutory benefits compliance. As a subject matter expert and individual contributor, the role ensures accurate, compliant and timely execution of benefits processes while driving operational excellence, data quality, governance and employee experience.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the team in the operational conversion of Benefits strategic objectives.

  • Act as the SME for retirals, statutory benefits, and insurance administration processes.

  • Manage day-to-day administration of gratuity, provident fund, NPS, superannuation, insurance and other employee benefit programs. 

  • Coordinate with external vendors, internal stakeholders and service providers to ensure smooth delivery of benefits operations.

  • Resolve employee and stakeholder queries related to benefits administration within agreed timelines.

  • Support policy and implementation process in line with business, legal and compliance requirements.

  • Identify process improvement and automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and employee experience.

Local Statutory Compliance Support

  • Support compliance with applicable local laws, regulations, statutory filings and record-keeping requirements related to benefits operations

  • Maintain local documentation, process notes, compliance trackers, and evidence required for statutory and audit purposes.

  • Perform operational reviews and quality checks to ensure compliance with statutory and policy requirements. 

  • Monitor compliance calendars and support timely completion of filings, remittances, reconciliations, and reporting activities. 

  • Support internal and external audits and resolve audit observations as required.

Provident Fund and Related Benefits Operations

  • Support EPF submissions, returns, challans, statutory filings and employee query resolution.

  • Coordinate PF-related activities including transfers, withdrawals, KYC and UAN activation support.

  • Perform reconciliations and validations to ensure accurate statutory reporting and remittances.

Retirals Administration

  • Support gratuity calculations, documentation, settlement processing and employee communication.

  • Support superannuation remittances, reconciliations, and employee statement coordination.

  • Manage NPS contribution tracking, reconciliations, and related operational activities.

Insurance Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee insurance programs including enrolments, dependent updates, exits and policy changes. 

  • Coordinate claims administration and issue resolution with insurers and external providers. 

  • Maintain insurance records, support renewals, reporting and governance reviews. 

  • Provide employee education and support regarding insurance coverage, processes and documentation requirements.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in benefits administration, payroll operations and statutory compliance in India, with hands-on exposure to retirals, insurance benefits, and statutory benefits processes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Commerce, Finance, Business Administration or related discipline. 

  • Strong knowledge of Provident Fund, Gratuity, NPS, Superannuation, employee insurance programs and statutory compliance requirements. 

  • Experience working with HRIS platforms, payroll systems and Microsoft Excel for analysis and reconciliations. 

  • Experience managing vendors and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders. 

  • Experience supporting audits, controls, compliance reviews and process governance.

  • Strong problem-solving, stakeholder management and communication skills.
