Python Developer Location: Ipswich - Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite Start Date: ASAP Contract Rate: £420 per day inside IR35 Duration: 12 months initially Role Overview Our client is seeking a Python Developer to develop and maintain automation solutions, backend services and tooling supporting large-scale telecom network operations. Working closely with QA, Network Engineering and DevOps teams, you will build REST APIs, automation scripts and data-driven applications that improve testing, monitoring and operational efficiency across 5G and enterprise platforms. Key Responsibilities Develop Python-based automation frameworks and scripts for testing, data processing and operational workflows. Build RESTful APIs using Flask or FastAPI. Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Redis. Develop and maintain Docker-based applications and environments. Support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD. Write Linux shell scripts and manage deployments on Linux servers. Integrate with telecom network systems and APIs for validation, monitoring and health checks. Implement logging, monitoring and error-handling solutions. Collaborate with QA, Network Engineering and DevOps teams to deliver scalable automation solutions. Skills \& Experience Essential: 4 years of Python development experience in automation or backend development. Experience building REST APIs with Flask or FastAPI. Knowledge of HTML/CSS and Jinja2. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases. Strong Linux administration and Bash scripting skills. Docker and Docker Compose experience. Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD experience. Experience with Git version control. Knowledge of Python libraries including requests, paramiko, subprocess, schedule and pandas. Understanding of HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS, SSH and API integrations. Desirable: Telecom or network automation experience, including 4G Core or 5G environments. Experience with RabbitMQ or Kafka. OpenStack and Infrastructure-as-Code knowledge. Pytest, Selenium or Playwright experience. Grafana, ELK Stack or Prometheus knowledge. Agile or Scrum experience.
