Product Manager (Pass)

Job Description
Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default
Proton was founded in 2014 by scientists from CERN on a simple truth: privacy is a fundamental human right. Since then, we've built the world's largest encrypted email service (Proton Mail) and expanded into Proton VPN, Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton Calendar — tools used by millions globally to protect their freedom, fight censorship, and keep their data safe. In some situations, Proton has literally helped save lives.
We are profitable, independent (no VC control), and selectively hire from the top ~1% of applicants. Our 700+ team members across 50+ countries come from leading organizations and elite academic backgrounds. We move fast, keep hierarchy light, and prioritize impact over optics. If you want to do meaningful work with exceptionally high-caliber people, this is it. Check our open-source projects here.
The ID Team
The ID team owns three of Proton's most strategically important products: Proton Pass (password manager), Proton Authenticator, and SimpleLogin (alias and identity protection) — serving millions of users from individuals to businesses managing credentials at scale.
We're looking for a Senior PM to lead the next stage of these products. Product at Proton sits at the intersection of Engineering, Growth, Data, and Design — your job is to grow engagement and retention by shipping experiences users love, while driving the freemium model that sits at the heart of how we grow. You'll set direction across Pass, Authenticator, and SimpleLogin, not execute someone else's roadmap.
What You'll Own
- Define and drive the product roadmap for Pass, Authenticator, and SimpleLogin — from strategic vision through delivery — in close collaboration with senior leadership.
- Own the metrics that matter: active usage, user engagement, retention, revenue, and B2B conversion. Set the bar, track it, and course-correct fast.
- Identify and ship novel product features that expand the value proposition to new user segments and deepen defensibility against well-resourced competitors.
- Lead cross-functional execution across engineering, design, growth, and marketing — remove blockers, maintain velocity, and keep teams aligned on priorities.
- Anticipate growth ceilings before they hit. Define scaling strategies that go beyond pure product work — including infrastructure, tooling, and customer engagement platforms.
- Drive market research, competitive analysis, and direct customer feedback loops to ensure product decisions are grounded in real user needs.
Who You Are
- 6–10 years of product management experience in B2C or B2B SaaS, with a track record of successful product and major feature launches.
- Analytically rigorous: you define success in numbers, run structured experiments, and make data-informed decisions without losing sight of user intuition.
- Experienced in product-led growth and freemium business models — you understand the mechanics of conversion, retention, and expansion revenue.
- A sharp eye for UX — you can tell good design from bad, and you won't ship experiences that fall short.
- Able to go deep with engineers: you understand technical trade-offs, participate meaningfully in architecture discussions, and earn credibility through substance, not title.
- Demonstrated experience building or scaling B2B product lines — you know what enterprise buyers need and how that differs from consumer.
Nice to Have
- Experience in online privacy, security, or identity products.
- Familiarity with cryptographic concepts relevant to user data protection.
- Prior experience with a freemium model scaling into mid-market or enterprise.
