Job Description
The Associate Portfolio Manager, Emerging Markets works closely with the Emerging Markets portfolio management team to support the management of client portfolios in accordance with investment objectives, portfolio guidelines, and LGIMA investment strategy views. The role is responsible for portfolio implementation, monitoring, trading support, cash management, risk oversight, and portfolio reporting activities across Emerging Markets strategies. Working under the direction of senior portfolio managers, the Associate Portfolio Manager helps ensure efficient portfolio execution and adherence to client, regulatory, and risk requirements.
Scope / Influence
Supports portfolio implementation and monitoring activities across Emerging Markets strategies. Influences portfolio outcomes through portfolio analytics, trade implementation, cash management, risk monitoring, and operational coordination. Works closely with Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts, Trading, Operations, Compliance, and other internal business partners to facilitate efficient portfolio management and execution. Operates without independent investment authority and escalates investment recommendations and portfolio decisions to senior portfolio managers
Responsibilities:
Regular Duties
- Support portfolio construction and implementation activities across Emerging Markets mandates and client portfolios.
- Monitor portfolio exposures, position weights, duration, spread risk, sector allocations, and other risk metrics relative to benchmarks and portfolio guidelines.
- Construct and submit trade orders under the direction of portfolio managers.
- Monitor portfolio holdings and trade activity for compliance with client investment guidelines and internal policies.
- Manage portfolio cash balances, contributions, withdrawals, corporate actions, and benchmark changes.
- Analyze portfolio positioning and performance to support investment decision-making.
- Support portfolio reporting activities, including performance analysis, attribution, risk metrics, portfolio changes, and client-facing materials.
- Collaborate with Research Analysts and Portfolio Managers to evaluate investment opportunities and implement approved investment decisions.
- Coordinate with Trading, Compliance, Legal, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to facilitate portfolio management activities.
- Maintain accurate portfolio records and ensure timely completion of portfolio management processes and controls.
- Adhere to all applicable regulatory, compliance, risk management, and ESG-related requirements.
Ad Hoc / Project-Based Work
- Assist with portfolio transitions, client onboarding activities, and funding events.
- Support preparation of investment presentations, marketing materials, and client meeting content.
- Contribute to investment team projects and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct portfolio and risk-related analyses to support research and portfolio management efforts.
- Recommend and assist in implementing process improvements, automation opportunities, and operational efficiencies across the investment platform.
- Participate in investment committee preparation and strategy-related projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or a quantitative field required.
- CFA or Master’s degree in relevant field is preferred.
- 5+ years of buyside experience in investment management or sell side experience on trading desk, preferably within emerging markets fixed income
- Knowledge of fixed income concepts including duration, spread risk, yield curve positioning, and performance attribution.
- Working knowledge of emerging market debt markets and global macroeconomic developments.
- Background in Latam corporate credit space is preferred.
- Advanced AI, Bloomberg and strong Excel skills required.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
The starting salary offer will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s education, job-related experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location, and market factors.
