Sr Staff Engineer, Virtual Platform Engineering

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who combines deep embedded software expertise with system-level architecture skills. They will play a key role in advancing SF2 from individual proof-of-concept environments toward reusable, automated, and scalable virtual-product solutions, enabling software teams to develop and validate applications earlier in the product lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable virtual platforms for MCU/MPU and SoC products.
• Lead integration of virtual hardware, firmware, operating systems, and development tools.
• Enable pre-silicon software development, debugging, validation, and testing.
• Build reusable platform, automation, and CI/CD frameworks across product programs.
• Drive cloud-based deployment and Renesas 365 enablement for virtual platforms.
• Collaborate across modeling, firmware, verification, tools, and cloud teams.
• Provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, and engineering best practices.

 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong experience in embedded software development and architecture, with advanced proficiency in C/C++, Python, and MCU/MPU-based systems.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership across complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives, translating system-level requirements into scalable software architectures.
• Strong understanding of embedded operating systems, BSP/FSP, device drivers, development tools, debugging, validation, and software integration.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with virtual platforms, SystemC modeling, or simulation-based software development and validation.
• Familiarity with RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS, including software enablement and application-level validation.
• Experience establishing reusable software, validation, and automation frameworks across multiple MCU/MPU or SoC programs.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, automated regression testing, Linux development environments, containers, and cloud-native development infrastructure.
• Experience with developer workflows involving build, debug, trace, performance profiling, simulation, and remote development environments.
• Experience enabling pre-silicon software development or integrating firmware with virtual hardware/modeling environments.
• Exposure to cloud-based development and deployment environments for scalable virtual-product delivery.
