About the project
As a Staff Backend Engineer (.NET), you will help shape our newer cloud-native web application running on Azure, architecting complex distributed systems, driving technical decisions, and setting the technical bar for the team.
You will work deeply across system design, database architecture, cloud infrastructure, and the microservices that power the product. As a senior individual contributor, you will mentor fellow engineers, influence architectural direction, and champion clean, maintainable, and performant code.
This role is ideal for you if you enjoy solving hard technical problems, have strong opinions about engineering best practices, and want to shape the technology, architecture, and future direction of the platform.
What you’ll do
- Design scalable, distributed backend systems and microservices for our cloud-native Azure application.
- Build clean, secure, and performant services and APIs using ASP.NET Core, C#, GraphQL, and Hot Chocolate.
- Own database architecture, including Azure SQL schema design, EF Core migrations, query tuning, indexing, and multi-tenant data isolation.
- Define reliable patterns for messaging, distributed transactions, eventual consistency, idempotency, and cross-service failure handling.
- Lead technical decisions and establish standards that prioritize scalability, quality, and long-term maintainability.
- Apply application and cloud security best practices across authentication, authorization, secrets, access controls, networking, and API infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Angular developers, product leaders, and engineering leaders to translate business needs into clear contracts and scalable solutions.
- Diagnose production issues across application, database, infrastructure, and network layers using observability and monitoring tools.
- Mentor engineers, share best practices, and raise the team’s technical bar through design guidance and code reviews.
- Incorporate AI-assisted development tools into professional engineering workflows to improve delivery and code quality.
What makes you a great fit
- Bachelor´s Degree in Computer science, Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of professional .NET experience, with expert-level knowledge of ASP.NET Core and C#.
- 3+ years of architectural ownership, designing scalable distributed systems and driving technical decisions.
- Deep Azure SQL expertise, including schema design, execution plans, indexing, transaction isolation, and query tuning.
- Expert proficiency in Entity Framework Core, including complex queries, live-database migrations, performance optimization, and appropriate use of raw SQL.
- Understand microservices architecture, including event-driven messaging, distributed transactions, Sagas, eventual consistency, idempotency, compensating actions, and failure handling.
- Apply application security fundamentals, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, vulnerability prevention, and secure handling of secrets and sensitive data.
- Design secure multi-tenant systems using sharding, partitioning, row-level security, or equivalent isolation mechanisms.
- Create scalable, versioned, and backward-compatible APIs, with strong judgment around data loading and N+1 challenges.
- Collaborate effectively with Angular developers, product leaders, and engineering teams to define APIs, contracts, and scalable technical solutions.
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or similar within a professional engineering workflow.
- Own complex problems end to end, communicate technical trade-offs clearly, mentor engineers, and remain methodical during production incidents.
- Advanced English Level is required for this role, as you will work with US clients.
