Data Engineer II
Nashville or Remote | Engineering | Full-Time
At Ncontracts we help financial institutions make better decisions. This is achieved by creating tools that help them understand their risks and compliance concerns and provide pathways for them to mitigate them. We also have teams of industry leading experts to walk them through the process.
This is an individual contributor role, working closely with other data team members to complete the building out of ETL pipelines, our data warehouse and data models. Your day-to-day tasks will include extracting data from Ncontracts applications, transforming it according to business logic, and efficiently loading it into data models for analytics. In addition, you will be working with stakeholders to refine requirements and at times be involved in creating reports and dashboards. You will work with members from the cross-functional team to help them with the consumption of the data. You will be expected to use your knowledge to optimize the process for performance and accuracy as well as assist other less experienced team members. Your commitment to continuous improvement will drive enhancements in our data architecture and ensure that our data system can scale.
A successful Data Engineer II at Ncontracts will:
Contribute to building out ETL pipelines to include data from all Ncontracts products
Write performant and maintainable code, utilizing state-of-the-art tooling and AI agents
Ensure the quality of ETL process
Define data models and build reports in our analytics platform
Communicate well with other members of the data team and across the functional area
Advocate for best practices and continuous improvement
Participate in architecting and building a scalable data platform
Mentor team members on their area of expertise
It is expected you will have the following skills and experience:
3+ Years of experience as Data Engineer designing and implementing data warehouse and data lake solutions in an enterprise environment
Intimate knowledge of dbt is required
3+ years experience with Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, or AWS Redshift is required
Strong background in MS SQL Server is required
Experience in data architecture using different database types and data formats
Strong knowledge in building data pipelines to clean, enrich, and transform data.
Experience with Python is a plus and highly desirable
Experience in database design and tuning techniques
Experience with version control systems (Azure DevOps, Git) and familiarity with CI/CD concepts
It is helpful for you to have at least some of the following:
Experience working in horizontally scaling systems
Experience with Claude Code in developing ETL pipelines and data models
Prior work in creating reports and dashboards in a modern analytics platform (Sigma, Omni, etc.)
Exposure to Microsoft Fabric is a plus
Experience with other cloud data stacks (Google, AWS) is a plus
Familiarity with message/event driven architecture patterns and distributed systems architecture
Familiarity with systems integration
