Job Description
About the role We are looking for a Robotics Engineer (m/f/d) VLA , who will implement, fine-tune, and deploy Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models and multimodal robot control policies directly onto physical production lines, turning AI research methods into working factory-floor behavior. Your Responsibilities VLA Development: Implement, fine-tune, and evaluate Vision-Language-Action models and multimodal policies for robotic manipulation tasks. Hardware Deployment: Deploy and validate robotic control pipelines on physical hardware in production-line and factory environments. Multimodal Integration: Integrate vision, force/torque, and language model outputs into existing robot execution and control frameworks. Data Collection: Run data collection campaigns, record robot demonstrations, and set up data pipelines for model training and iteration. Edge Performance: Test and tune model performance on edge hardware to maintain consistent inference speed and control frequency. Field Deployment: Travel to deployment sites, primarily in China, to deploy solutions on production floors and gather operational feedback alongside on-site engineers. Essential Skills Background: 2–4 years of professional or applied experience in robotics software, computer vision, or machine learning for robot control, or equivalent demonstrated project experience. VLA Foundations: Working understanding of Vision-Language-Action models, multimodal transformers, or learning-based manipulation (imitation or reinforcement learning), including the pretrained demonstration base most VLA policies are fine-tuned from. Software Craft: Proficiency in modular, readable, and well-tested code in Python and/or C++, with hands-on use of ROS/ROS2, Linux, Docker, Git, and ML frameworks such as PyTorch. Robotics Fundamentals: Solid understanding of kinematics, dynamics, control, and motion planning. Physical Systems: Comfortable working directly with physical robots, including sensor integration (cameras, force sensors) and basic control loops. Location & Language: Professional working proficiency in English, with availability to work primarily on-site at our Munich headquarters. Beneficial Skills Production Deployment: Hands-on experience testing or deploying learned policies in production lines or industrial factory setups. Data Pipelines: Experience with robot demonstration processing, data logging, and preparing data for robot learning pipelines. Technical Writing: Ability to write clear setup guides and deployment documentation. Mandarin Fluency: Verbal and written communication in Mandarin, supporting collaboration at Chinese deployment facilities. What we offer Dynamic high-tech company combined with financial soundness and world class investors. Join an interdisciplinary, international team with 60+ different nationalities in a collaborative work environment. Lots of development opportunities in the context of our continued growth. Challenging tasks and impactful projects alongside experts that enable professional and personal growth. Corporate Benefits Program that covers health, mobility and learning with 100 € net per month.
