Shift5 is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer 2 to join our growing Product Engineering team. In this role, you’ll build and deploy high-impact features into Shift5’s product suite. You'll play a critical role in designing, building, and delivering the technology stack that serves our customers across both defense and commercial aviation, ensuring fleet safety and operational readiness. You will report directly to our Manager, Off-Vehicle Software Engineering, operating in a team-based environment with engineers, product managers, program managers, and industry experts to conceive, implement, and shape major features. You’ll be a major factor in generating high-impact products that literally save lives.
What You'll Do
- UI & API Development: Design, build, and deliver new features and improvements to the user interfaces and APIs at Shift5.
- Feature Ownership & Autonomy: Interpret requirements and design specifications to develop, debug, test, and maintain software solutions with a high degree of autonomy and velocity.
- Domain-Tailored Solutions: Design, build, and support robust features tailored to the unique operational and compliance requirements of our commercial aviation and defense customers across a broad array of platforms, environments, and cloud solutions.
- Architecture & Standards: Facilitate architectural designs that meet business requirements, security, and quality standards.
- Team Mentorship & Process: Mentor and coach other team members and peers to continually improve, while actively participating in our Agile development processes.
- Continuous Learning: Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies and developments in the software engineering space.

What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Education: BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- Software Development Experience: 3+ years of experience in software development with a deep understanding of software engineering practices and concepts.
- Core Web Technologies: Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and one modern frontend framework (React, Angular, or Vue).
- Backend & APIs: Experience working with Go, alongside demonstrated experience with REST APIs.
- Cloud, Containers & Deployment: Experience with AWS, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Product Experience: Prior SaaS product experience, with a track record of delivering scalable, observable, supportable, and reliable applications.
- Security & Citizenship: US Citizenship and an active (or ability to hold/obtain) US Government Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred:
- Modern Engineering Workflows: Experience with Agentic Software Engineering Workflows.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $130,000 - $170,000
