Job Description
Dark Wolf is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Customer Engineer to serve as a critical liaison for our Department of Defense (DOD) customer utilizing the AFRL Google Platform. This role is central to ensuring the optimal adoption, efficient use, and continuous improvement of cloud services within a secure government environment. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise in Google Cloud with exceptional communication and customer engagement skills, dedicated to fostering a successful cloud transformation journey for our DOD partner.
Key Responsibilities:

- Leading and facilitating recurring customer engagement activities, including weekly office hours, to provide direct support and build strong relationships.
- Performing system monitoring to proactively identify potential issues, optimize performance, and ensure platform health.
- Providing basic engineering support and technical guidance to users, ensuring the proper and effective utilization of the AFRL Google Platform.
- Optimization & Automation:
- Leverage expertise in service automation and templatization to streamline common service requests and improve operational efficiency through effective customer consulting procedures.
- Proactively consult with users to optimize Google Cloud project configurations and resource utilization, focusing on cost minimization at the project level.
- Act as a cloud advocate and educator, promoting best practices and fostering a cloud-native culture within the DOD customer's organization to support overall culture change.
- Feedback & Continuous Improvement:
- Gather and analyze customer requirements, translating operational needs into technical solutions and platform enhancements.
- Collect, synthesize, and present valuable customer feedback to the government team, contributing directly to strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Compile and disseminate feedback, suggestions, best practices, and lessons learned across the customer base.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation, communication processes, Zero Trust architecture, and cybersecurity accreditation frameworks.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of experience in a Customer Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or similar customer-facing technical role.
- Proven experience supporting Department of Defense (DOD) customers.
- Demonstrable experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and architecture.
- Strong understanding of cloud cost optimization strategies and resource management.
- Experience with service automation concepts and tools, including templatization of common requests.
- Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and cybersecurity accreditation processes (e.g., RMF).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and document customer requirements effectively.
- Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain one) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Engineer).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
- Understanding of government compliance standards and regulations related to cloud usage.
- Prior experience supporting AFRL specific initiatives or platforms.
The salary range for this position is estimated to be between $145,000.00 - $175,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical skillset.
