Job Description

About Check

Payroll is broken. Come fix it alongside a team that’s as passionate as you are!

At Check, we’re not just building our own business — we’re building payroll businesses together with every one of our partners. As the inventors of embedded payroll, we’re redefining how people get paid and making it easier for payroll businesses to launch, grow, and thrive.

On our team you'll use creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and grit to simplify the complexity of payroll for thousands of employers of every size, across all industries. We ignore conventional role boundaries in favor of the unique strengths and values each builder brings to our mission: make paying people simple.

Check is far more than just API infrastructure. We’re a springboard for building and scaling payroll businesses.

About the role

Check is the leading payroll infrastructure platform. Every new partner goes through a similar journey: evaluate, build, launch. Today that journey relies heavily on manual, bespoke support from Sales, Growth, and Partner Engineering. You'll redesign how partners go from first conversation to live payroll product — then build the systems that make that journey scale.

You'll own the technical experience of the partner journey end to end, operating as the connective tissue across Sales, Growth, Product, and Partner Engineering. That means being in the room where deals and builds happen — technical demos, live solutioning, advising partners through launch — and using what you learn there to build the content, tooling, sandboxes, AI skills, and workflows that make each successive partner faster to launch than the last.

Success in 18 months could look like this: launches that once took months of bespoke support run on a consistent, largely self-serve path; startup partners ship independently, and the playbook you built is how Check goes to market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process redesign: Partner with leaders across Sales, Growth, Partner Engineering, Product and R&D to redefine the scope → build → launch process end to end — what happens at each stage, who's in the room, what the technical next step is — so every launch is consistent.

  • Pre-sales technical partnership: Own technical demos, live solutioning, and architecture conversations alongside Sales; up-level technical enablement tooling and materials

  • Build-phase enablement: Drive sandbox access, provisioning and tracking, consultative build guides and best practices, FAQs. Work cross-functionally to fundamentally reimagine what it looks like to build a Check integration for partners by using cutting edge AI tools.

  • QuickStart automation: Own speed-to-launch for startup partners by automating our QuickStart model — an AI-and-automation-driven path that lets them build and launch independently at their own pace.

  • Launch hand-off: Build the transition playbook with Partner Engineering so every partner arrives post-launch with full context and continuity.

  • AI-assisted build support: Develop AI functionality that supports partners through their build - answering integration questions, reviewing implementation patterns, surfacing best practices

Many backgrounds could fit this role, but ideal candidates will have most or all of the following:

  • Deep experience with API integrations, ideally with vertical SaaS/FinTech platforms

  • Comfort solutioning live; polished externally

  • Bias toward systems over heroics with a knack for automating processes

  • Highly autonomous; comfortable being the single technical owner across many concurrent builds

  • Experience with (or strong enthusiasm for) applying AI to support and enablement workflows
