Are you interested in an Internship opportunity with Philips? We welcome individuals who are currently pursuing an undergraduate (BS) and/or graduate (MS) degree to participate in a 6 month paid co-op opportunities at our site in Plymouth, MN. Through this role you will gain meaningful, hands-on experience working for a HealthTech company.
Your role:
As a Software Systems Engineering Co-op, you’ll be part of a high-performing Software Engineering team within the Image Guided Therapy Devices (IGT-D) Software R&D group, based in Plymouth, MN. In this role, you will support the definition, analysis, documentation, and verification of system and software requirements for the IVUS Clinical Imaging Software Application. You will work closely with software systems engineers, software developers, product owners, testers, and cross-functional stakeholders to help translate user needs and clinical use scenarios into clear design inputs and traceable requirements. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in medical device software systems engineering while contributing to technology that can improve clinical workflow efficiency for physician customers and support better outcomes for patients.
Your role
- Work closely with members of the Software Systems Engineering and Software R&D teams to identify co-op work that can be completed during the assignment.
- Assist with system decomposition and allocation of derived requirements to software elements, including support for requirement traceability.
- Learn and apply systems engineering methods and tools used to define, review, and manage software system requirements.
- Support reviews of software design specifications, interfaces, and potential solutions under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Assist with stakeholder feedback review and documentation of software system-user interaction models.
- Complete required training necessary to comply with regulatory requirements and quality management system standards.
- Create and present an end-of-assignment presentation summarizing the work completed, key learnings, and contributions to the team.
You’re the right fit if
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in systems engineering, computer engineering, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
- You have an interest in medical device software, systems engineering, software requirements, risk management, human factors, or product development.
- You have basic exposure to software development concepts and programming languages such as C++, Java, C#, or Python.
- You have a basic understanding of software development life cycles, agile development methodology, or new product development.
- You have strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, technical writing, and presentation skills.
- You are willing and capable of working on-site in the office at the Plymouth, MN site.
- You must be able to successfully perform the minimum Physical, Cognitive, and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

Philips Transparency Details
The hourly pay range for this position is $25.00 to $36.00, plus overtime eligible. The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
