Job Description Summary
The Head, US Insights & Analytics is accountable for enterprise-wire insight generation, integration, and translation into decision advantage across the US division.
This role leads all major Insights & Analytics capabilities, including Decision Science, Human (Customer & Patient) Insights, Field Analytics, Access & Reimbursement Insights, and lifecycle analytics, to elevate the quality, speed, and impact of strategic and operational decisions across the Novartis Product Portfolio.
This leader serves as a thought partner and challenger to US senior leadership, shaping key business questions, integrating human, behavioral, performance, and predictive analytics, and ensuring insights drive measurable business action across brands, therapeutic areas, and functions.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Insight Leadership:
- Lead and integrate all US Insights & Analytics disciplines, ensuring a cohesive, prioritized, and outcomes-driven portfolio of insights across brands, therapeutic areas, and functions
- Serve as senior thought partner and challenger to the US Leadership Team, General Management organization, and Function Heads.
- Define and embed common insight standards, success profiles, methodologies, and shared ways of working across Insights & Analytic function.
- Own value-based prioritization, budgeting, portfolio resource allocation, forecasting, business planning cycle across all Insights & Analytics work.
- Lead the Reimagine Work transformation for US Insights & Analytics, advancing AI‑enabled, digitally fluent, and product‑oriented ways of working that modernize how insights are generated, scaled, and embedded into day‑to‑day enterprise decision‑making.
Decision Science & Integrated Insights
- Primarily supports the Therapeutic Area Heads, Product General Managers, and Integrated Product Strategy Teams
- Oversee decision capability to frame key business questions, integrate insights across sources, and translate findings into clear strategic recommendations.
- Ensure integration of human insights, field analytics, payer/access intelligence, and performance/predictive analytics into a single decision narrative.
- Collaborate with Strategy and Growth in support of the Therapeutic Area Heads on 10-year forecasts and business development assessments.
Human, Patient & Behavioral Insights
- Oversees generation of customer (HCP, account) and patient insights using primary/secondary research, behavioral science, and advanced analytics.
- Drive patient-centric insight capabilities, including customer journeys, omnichannel engagement insights, precision medicine, and behavioral drivers of adoption.
Field Insights & Commercial Effectiveness
- Oversees enterprise-wide field insights across Sales, Medical, Patient Support, and Access, including deployment, sizing, targeting, field goals, Next Best Action, and performance optimization.
- Guide investment effectiveness and resource allocation decisions across the portfolio based on field analytics.
Payer, Access & Affordability Insights
- Oversees payer, access, and reimbursement insights to inform pricing, contracting, access strategy, and distribution decisions.
- Ensure early identification of payer trends, access risks, and market opportunities across lifecycle stages.
People & Culture
- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing leadership team and deep expert bench across all Insights & Analytics disciplines.
- Champion a culture of curiosity, accountability, learning agility, and ethical decision-making.
Ethics, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure full adherence to Ethics, Risk, and Compliance standards and foster a diverse, inclusive, and respectful work environment.
Essential Requirements:
- Education Bachelor's degree in related field is required; Master of Science and/or MBA preferred
- 15+ years in pharma / life sciences with deep analytics and insights leadership experience
- Deep understanding of US commercial functions and the US healthcare environment required
- Proven track record of building a strong commercial operations and analytics organization in a matrixed organization that serves multiple stakeholder groups
- Fluency across decision science, behavioral science, market research, field analytics, payer/access analytics, and predictive modeling
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex analytics into executive-ready business decisions
Novartis Compensation Summary:
The salary for this position is expected to range between $261,100.00 and $484,900.00 per year
The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.
Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
