Location and Travel: Based in Nampula province, with GD Mozambique's largest field teams, with occasional travel to other provinces.
What you’ll do:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Own recruitment end to end for field and office roles: job postings, sourcing, screening, interviews, reference checks, offers, and candidate communication.
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements and build strong, diverse candidate pipelines.
- Proactively source candidates through professional networks, online platforms, job fairs, and institutional partnerships and university presentations, alongside inbound applications.
- Build and maintain standing candidate rosters for high-volume, recurring roles.
- Support the development of interview questions and skills assessments matched to the role and grade being hired for.
- Track recruitment metrics (time to hire, offer acceptance rate, pipeline health) and share regular updates with the HR Manager.
- Coordinate with GD's global recruitment team on shared tools and Portuguese-language recruitment support.
- Apply GD's safeguarding standards throughout recruitment, including reference and background checks consistent with GD's Commitment to Safeguarding.
Onboarding & Learning and Development
- Own a single onboarding standard for new hires, delivered against a shared checklist and applied consistently whether in person or remote – including orientation on culture, policies, and administrative set-up, and structured induction for field and office staff.
- Facilitate ongoing refresher trainings for field and office staff, and coordinate with line managers on any additional support new hires need in their first weeks.
- Support training needs assessments and build learning and development content aligned to organizational priorities, working with the HR Manager on grade-specific training and mentorship pairings.
- Track training completion and effectiveness, and maintain accurate training records.
- Identify and coordinate external training or capacity-building opportunities as needed.
HR Operations & Employee Relations
- Support performance management processes across the office.
- Support maintenance of accurate and confidential personnel files and HR records.
- Support employee relations matters, and help ensure HR practices comply with local labor law and GD policy.
What you’ll bring:
- Exceptional alignment with GiveDirectly Values and active demonstration of our core competencies: emotional intelligence, problem solving, project management, follow-through, and fostering inclusivity. We welcome and strongly encourage applications from candidates who have personal or professional experience in the low-income and/or historically marginalized communities that we serve.
- Language Requirement: Fluency in Portuguese and strong working proficiency in English, for coordination with GD's global recruitment team.
- 4–5 years of experience in recruitment or talent acquisition, including meaningful exposure to sourcing and a genuine passion for candidate experience.
- Comfort designing and administering skills assessments matched to a role's seniority and function.
- Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple processes and stakeholders simultaneously, and comfort navigating ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities.
- Clear communication – both written and verbal – with internal teams and external stakeholders such as candidates; a customer-service orientation and extremely high follow-through.
- Strong attention to detail and a systems-oriented, process-improvement mindset, with a willingness to suggest and test new approaches.
- Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential employee information.
- Deep interest in building and scaling GiveDirectly's organizational culture and values.
- Willingness to be based in Nampula province, with occasional travel to other provinces.
