Immediate Supervisor’s Position Title: Africa Actuarial VCC Team Lead  

Location: Bengaluru, India

 

Role Purpose: This role will take ownership and lead the execution of Pru Africa’s product roadmap. The role will work closely with the Regional Senior Manager-Products to ensure products are delivered according to agreed plans to support achievement of Africa’s financial targets

  • Lead, contribute to and oversee execution of product development roadmap
  • Contribute to the build, challenge and enhancement of product proposals to deliver value to Prudential Africa’s customers and to achieve Prudential Africa’s VNB targets
  • Work closely with and manage key stakeholders effectively for the achievement of the product roadmap
  • Development of robust product propositions resulting in development of competitive and profitable products
  • Execution of agreed product roadmap within the agreed timelines
  • Manage the development, documentation, review and maintenance of actuarial pricing models
  • Review and sign off on pricing model output (premium rates, surrender values, financial metrics)
  • Oversee completion of and review product collaterals and PSDs
  • Ensure timely completion of all agreed product pricing initiatives including requisite materials for internal and regulatory approvals

  • Participate in the upskilling of Pru Africa’s local product resources

Core requirements: Brief description of any technical skills or qualifications required

  • University graduate in Actuarial Science
  • Qualified or nearly qualified actuary
  • At least 8 years of experience in a life actuarial function or consultancy, 5 of which must be in a product development role.
  • Experience in actuarial principles and methodologies, with demonstrable experience in pricing and profit testing.
  • Experience in directly managing small teams 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous and methodical approach
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely using an approach appropriate to the receiving stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and peak workload periods effectively
  • Good business acumen
