Job Description

Join Midsummer and help deploy thin-film solar manufacturing technology around the world. As a Process Engineer, you'll contribute to the development, optimization and commissioning of advanced production systems that enable the next generation of sustainable solar energy.

This is a role for someone who enjoys combining hands-on technical work with analytical problem-solving. You'll work closely with colleagues across production, innovation and other teams to ensure high-performing and stable manufacturing processes.

What you'll do
  • Analyse production data to identify trends, optimise performance and improve process stability

  • Develop, maintain and improve thin-film deposition processes and related production systems

  • Troubleshoot process and equipment-related issues using a structured and data-driven approach

  • Support production teams with process expertise and continuous improvement activities

  • Commission, qualify and optimise Midsummer's DUO and UNO production systems

  • Participate in process development projects and evaluation of new process concepts

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across production, innovation and other teams throughout the organisation

  • Travel to customer sites to support installations, commissioning and process optimisation activities

What we're looking for
  • A Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Experience working with technical problem-solving in an industrial or engineering environment

  • Strong analytical skills and interest in data-driven decision making

  • Comfortable working both hands-on with equipment and analytically with process data

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

  • Enjoy working internationally and travelling as part of the role

Experience with semiconductor technology, vacuum systems, statistical analysis, process engineering or advanced manufacturing technologies is considered advantageous.

Who you are

You're curious, analytical and motivated by solving technical challenges. You enjoy understanding how processes work in practice and are comfortable moving between data analysis, troubleshooting and hands-on engineering work.

You take ownership of your work, collaborate effectively with colleagues from different disciplines and communicate technical information in a clear and structured way. When faced with challenges, you're persistent, solution-oriented and driven to identify root causes and implement long-term improvements.

Most importantly, you're someone who enjoys learning, taking responsibility and contributing to the continued development of innovative production technology.

About Midsummer

Midsummer is a Swedish solar energy company that develops and manufactures lightweight, flexible and discreet solar panels based on CIGS thin-film technology.

Our silicon-free solar cells are approximately 90% lighter and have approximately 90% lower carbon emissions than traditional silicon-based solar panels. They are manufactured at our production facilities in Järfälla, Sweden, and Bari, Italy, using our own production technology.

Under the Midsummer Machinery brand, we also develop and supply advanced production systems for flexible thin-film solar cells. Our proprietary DUO platform enables efficient and scalable manufacturing and is used by customers around the world.

In this role, you'll contribute directly to the continued development, optimization and deployment of Midsummer's production technology, working closely with our Innovation, Production and Engineering teams.
