Allianz Services is where that legacy meets the future. 8,200+ people. Eight countries. Three continents. Role overview

Are you passionate about data platforms and eager to see how modern data architectures transform the world’s leading insurance brand? Join Allianz Services as a Data & AI Transformation Expert (m/f/d)  and lead hands-on data modernization and migration programs within our Data & AI Transformation team. Collaborate with a dynamic, international team to re-platform legacy data estates, decommission legacy technologies, and stand up cloud-native data, AI & GenAI services. We're seeking technically strong leaders who can architect solutions, get into the detail with engineers, and drive real delivery to "Make Data & AI Transformation Happen." Apply now and become a key player in modernizing the data foundations of Allianz.

What you do:

  • Own the technical engagement lifecycle: current-state assessment, target architecture design, migration strategy, solution scoping, delivery governance, and measurable outcomes.
  • Steer data modernization and migration efforts: define migration roadmaps, sequencing, and cutover plans, and make the key architecture and tooling decisions.
  • Lead technical stakeholder alignment: build trust with engineering and architecture teams as well as executives, align on technical goals and KPIs, and secure architecture decisions in complex organizations.
  • Translate business and data requirements into technical delivery plans: define target-state architecture, data models, migration approach, resourcing, timeline, and measurable success criteria.
  • Govern execution hands-on: run delivery cadence, review designs and code where needed, track KPIs and technical risks, manage dependencies, resolve blockers, and ensure delivery quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement: identify follow-on modernization and decommissioning opportunities, and provide technical thought leadership on data platforms, migration patterns, and best practices.

What you bring:

  • At least 5  years in hands-on data delivery roles, including 2+ years leading data modernization or migration programs.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Data Engineering, Data Architecture and Solution Architecture, including data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud data platforms (e.g. Azure, Databricks, Snowflake,).
  • Proven experience steering data migrations: legacy-to-cloud re-platforming, decommissioning of legacy systems (e.g. SAS, on-prem warehouses), data validation, and cutover management.
  • Expert technical scoping and estimation; ability to assess legacy estates and design pragmatic, cost-aware migration and modernization approaches.
  • Strong communication skills across technical and executive audiences; able to explain architecture trade-offs and influence without formal authority.
  • Cross-functional technical leadership across engineering, data, and architecture teams; fluency in delivery methodologies (Agile/Lean) and modern DataOps/CI-CD practices.
  • Deep experience in data platforms and modernization is essential; broader ML, AI & GenAI exposure is a strong plus.
  • Insurance domain knowledge preferred.
  • Genuine hands-on attitude — comfortable getting into designs, data models, and code alongside technical teams.
  • Fluent English is a must, additional languages a plus.
