Purpose of the role
To execute trades and manage risk within a defined portfolio of financial instruments and staying informed about market trends and developments to make informed trading decisions.
Accountabilities
- Execution of buy and sell orders or pricing of liquidity in various financial instruments while adhering to the bank's trading strategies and risk parameters.
- Monitoring and analysis of global financial markets, economic indicators, news, and geopolitical events to identify trading opportunities and assess market risks.
- Management and monitoring of the risk associated with the trading portfolio and ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal risk management guidelines.
- Collaboration with research analysts and other teams to gather insights and information for trading decisions.

Join Barclays' market-leading Fixed Income Financing business as a member of the Tokyo-based JGB Repo Trading team. In this front-office role, you will help provide liquidity and financing solutions to leading institutional investors while managing risk, funding, and balance sheet resources across the Japanese Government Bond market. Working closely with clients, sales teams, and global trading desks, you will gain exposure to a fast-paced trading environment where market insight, analytical thinking, and commercial decision-making directly contribute to business performance. Essential Qualifications
- Fluent Japanese and professional-level English communication skills.
- Understanding of JGB cash, repo, or fixed income financing markets.
- Experience gained within trading, markets, treasury, financing, fixed income, or related financial services functions.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to assess risk and market dynamics.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyse market and trading data.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of fixed income products, financing transactions, and derivatives.
- Experience using Bloomberg or other market data platforms.
- VBA, Python, or other coding/automation experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving trading environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong commercial judgement and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience collaborating with global teams across multiple regions and time zones.
This role is regulated by the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA) and Financial Futures Association of Japan (FFAJ).
