Job Description
The Data Analytics / Computer Science Intern will join Western Digital's Head Backend Business Unit for a structured 3-6 month internship at the Philippines site (PHO). This role sits within the Engineering organization and is designed to introduce data-savvy students to the world of manufacturing analytics in a precision technology environment.
The intern will support analytics and digitalization initiatives within slider processing and HGA assembly operations, helping build tools, reports, and visualizations that support engineering and operations decision-making.
High-performing interns will be considered for conversion to the ECT -- under the BEST Program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting development of operational dashboards and engineering reports
- Assisting in data extraction, cleaning, and exploratory analysis of manufacturing datasets
- Writing scripts or queries to automate manual reporting tasks (Python, SQL, Power BI)
- Collaborating with engineers to understand data needs and translate them into analytical outputs
- Completing a defined analytics internship project with a final presentation
- Participating in structured learning and check-in sessions throughout the program
REQUIRED:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Engineering with a strong analytics/programming focus, or a related field.
- Minimum 3rd-year standing.
- Proficiency in Python and/or SQL.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis or data visualization through academic projects, competitions, personal projects, or similar experience.
- Available for a 3–6 month internship.
- The internship is intended for students whose academic program requires or allows an internship for academic credit.
PREFERRED:
- Coursework in machine learning, data mining, or statistical modeling.
- Portfolio of data-related projects, such as GitHub, Kaggle, or similar platforms.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent data visualization tools.
- Exposure to manufacturing, operations, or engineering data is a plus but not required.
SKILLS
- Hands-on experience with Python and/or SQL programming.
- Data visualization and dashboard development skills.
- Analytical curiosity and the ability to ask questions and explore data independently.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain data insights clearly and effectively.
- Collaborative, proactive, and willing-to-learn mindset.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

- September 14–15, 2026
- November 16, 2026
- January 11–12, 2027
- April 1, 2027
