Job Description

Your mission You take on both functional and disciplinary leadership of our development teams and work closely with our Backend and Frontend Leads. You ensure that teams, responsibilities, and development processes are clearly structured so our developers can work effectively. You are responsible for the technical architecture of our SaaS application and make key design and architecture decisions together with the Development Leads. You balance short-term delivery goals with scalability, maintainability, security, and technical debt. You manage software development operationally: you are responsible for planning, capacities, dependencies, and releases, coordinate teams and tickets throughout their lifecycle, and remove blockers before they slow down delivery. You work closely with Product Management and translate product requirements into technically sound solutions together with the Development Leads. Product owns the what and why; together with Engineering, you own how and when we deliver it reliably. You continuously improve our engineering processes and establish standards for architecture, code quality, testing, reviews, documentation, and technical collaboration. You actively drive our AI First Development Culture far beyond code generation. You evaluate new tools and workflows and integrate AI meaningfully into research, technical conception, architecture, development, testing, code reviews, debugging, documentation, and other parts of the development lifecycle. You stay close to the product from a technical perspective and can dive deeply into technical topics when needed. However, your focus is not on personally coding as many features as possible, but on making strong technical decisions and successfully leading a high-performing development team. Your profile You have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in software development and know modern software development from hands-on experience. You have already led developers and development teams and bring real management experience, both functionally and disciplinarily. You have taken responsibility for people, projects, and outcomes and know how to develop, challenge, and support a team. You have experience planning and managing software development projects, coordinating multiple developers and stakeholders, and keeping timelines, dependencies, and releases under control. You can make well-founded architecture and design decisions, evaluate technical trade-offs, and discuss technical topics with experienced developers at eye level. You bring strong experience in at least one of our two technology areas: Python-based backend development, ideally with Django / Django REST Framework or FastAPI, or modern frontend development with React and TypeScript. Experience across both areas is a strong plus. You have experience with REST APIs, relational databases, and modern web applications and understand the key technical relationships within a SaaS architecture. You use AI tools not just as coding assistants, but think about how AI can improve the entire development process. You experiment with new tools, critically evaluate their output, and can establish successful approaches across the team. You communicate clearly and convincingly and are equally comfortable coordinating with developers, Product Management, and senior management. You bring a collaborative leadership style, decisiveness, and a strong desire to shape and improve how we work. You are fluent in German and English.
