The Position

DevOps Engineer

The Opportunity

Developing apps is great, but developing apps with a purpose is even better! As a DevOps Engineer at Roche Information Solutions, you'll work on a platform that helps people with the most precious thing they have — their health. In collaboration with developers, architects, product owners, and QA experts, you'll experience best-in-class software development practices on a daily basis and contribute to software that meets the highest expectations — we do not put our users' lives at risk!

We are looking for an experienced and motivated DevOps Engineer to develop and streamline processes behind our healthcare platform. In this role, you will work closely with your backend colleagues and be part of our efforts to improve the digital health ecosystem. You will contribute with your knowledge on AWS, Kubernetes and CI/CD within our platform team. You will be part of the RIS Platform Engineering chapter working on our navify platform.

Responsibilities

  • Development: Build the necessary infrastructure to support platform components and services end-to-end.

  • Continuous Delivery & Monitoring: Facilitate and evolve the infrastructure and software integrations with our existing CI/CD pipeline.

  • Process & Operations: Ensure that continuous monitoring solutions cover all operational requirements and enable continuous improvement of our platform.

  • Software Excellence: Contribute to a culture that values technical excellence, support, and compassion; evangelize healthy DevOps, software development, and operations practices within the team.

  • Teamwork: Contribute to a healthy team environment that adheres to best practices.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a directly related discipline (Computer Science, Science or Engineering, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Or, an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience.

  • 2 years of related experience in the software industry.

  • 2+ years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, including services like IAM, S3, SQS, API Gateway, Lambda).

  • Experience with contemporary platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Kustomize).

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Packer).

  • Experience in CI/CD, internal tooling, and production operations (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, Argo CD).

  • Strong communication skills and a track record of problem-solving with a focus on teamwork.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams, including security and quality.

  • Strong motivation to learn and discover new technologies.

  • Hands-on system administration experience with Unix-based systems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with log, event, metric collector and visualization tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Alert Manager, ElasticSearch).

  • AWS or Kubernetes Certifications.

  • Software development experience.

  • Experience with other cloud providers (Azure, GCP, AliCloud).

  • Previous SRE experience.

  • Scripting experience (shell, python, ruby).

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, IN is between $101,000 - $187,600.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
