Job Description

About the Role

This is a founding technical role at the intersection of computational neuroscience and production machine learning, sitting at the core of a wearable AI product that quantifies emotional states in real time. You'll own the inference model that translates biometric and audio signals into emotional intelligence insights — work that directly defines what the product can do. Computational neuroscientists here operate as full ML engineers, bridging research and deployed systems.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and iterate on the inference model that quantifies emotional states from wearable sensor data.

  • Bridge neuroscience research and production machine learning systems, taking models from concept through deployment.

  • Contribute to the full ML lifecycle — experimentation, validation, and productionisation — at an early-stage company where your scope will grow with the team.

What We're Looking For

  • PhD in computational neuroscience, cognitive science, active inference, or a closely related field.

  • 2–7 years of experience bridging neuroscience research and production machine learning systems.

  • Strong proficiency in Python for ML model development and deployment.

  • Comfort working across research and engineering — you think like a scientist and ship like an engineer.

  • Background in active inference or probabilistic/generative models of brain function is a strong plus.

  • US work authorisation required (visa transfers considered; no new sponsorship).

Compensation & Benefits

Salary of $150,000 USD (US) or approximately £75,000 GBP (London), plus meaningful early-stage equity (up to 1–2%). No new visa sponsorship; transfers are welcome.

Location

Primary location is London, UK, with on-site presence in London or San Francisco also an option. Remote and hybrid arrangements are supported. Location is flexible for the right candidate.
