The Advanced Technology & Innovation Leader drives the discovery and commercialization of emerging technologies, combining deep technical expertise with hands-on leadership to create the next generation of medical imaging solutions. By leading a small innovation team and collaborating closely with R&D, Product Management, Clinical, and Business leaders, this role transforms cutting-edge ideas into market-ready products that deliver clinical and business impact.

Your role:

  • Lead the development and execution of the Advanced Technology & Innovation roadmap, aligning innovation initiatives with business and clinical priorities. Serve as a senior technical advisor on innovation strategy and future technology investments.

  • Identify, evaluate, and advance emerging technologies to create competitive differentiation, with a focus on AI, advanced algorithms, imaging, biomedical optics, computational modeling, and data-driven solutions. Drive innovation from concept and feasibility through product development and commercialization.

  • Provide technical leadership for strategic technology platforms and product initiatives. Contribute directly to complex technical challenges, including prototyping, algorithm development, system design, and the transition of technologies into regulated medical devices.

  • Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary Advanced Technology team while fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and rapid experimentation. Recruit and develop top engineering and scientific talent and leveraged global capabilities and external partnerships.

  • Partner with Intellectual Property teams to identify, protect, and promote key innovations through invention disclosures and patent development. Contribute to technology landscape assessments that informed innovation and investment strategies.

You're the right fit if:

  • You bring extensive experience developing innovative medical device and/or medical imaging technologies and have demonstrated success translating research and innovation into commercial products. You are an experienced people leader with a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • You have deep expertise in one or more of the following areas: AI/Machine Learning, Medical Imaging, Biomedical Optics, Advanced Algorithms, and Computational Modeling. Bonus qualifications include a strong record of technical leadership, innovation, and intellectual property development.

  • You hold a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Optical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field. A Master’s degree with significant relevant industry experience will also be considered.

  • You demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills and can effectively partner across technical, clinical, and business organizations to drive innovation and business impact.

  • The pay range for this position in AL, AZ, AR, CO, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, ME, MI, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VI, VA, WV, WI, and WY is $164,000 to $261,000.

  • The pay range for this position in DE, MD, MN, and RI is $172,000 to $274,000.

  • The pay range for this position in CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, WA, and Washington, D.C. is $184,000 to $292,000

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
