Job Description
The Opportunity
This is a backfill on a payments and payroll platform's financial crime program, and the team needs someone who can step in and hold a full caseload from day one, not ramp slowly into it. Success in the first 90 days looks like fluency in the monitoring and case management tools plus the blockchain analytics platform, and by month six you should be independently drafting SAR narratives that need little rework and have flagged at least one pattern worth feeding back into detection rules. This is a good fit for someone who wants real ownership over investigative work.
What You'll Own
Carry a caseload of transaction monitoring alerts across both crypto and fiat rails, deciding to escalate or clear each one with a documented rationale
Trace funds across multiple blockchains, surfacing exposure to mixers, sanctioned wallets, darknet markets, and high risk exchanges
Reconcile on chain findings against KYC, KYB, and fiat banking records to reach a defensible conclusion on incomplete information
Draft SAR narratives and supporting evidence that hold up without heavy rework from the compliance lead
Disposition sanctions and adverse media alerts, including wallet screening, and escalate true matches with a recommended account action
Spot recurring typologies or false positive patterns and push them back into the monitoring rules and risk scoring
Build working relationships across onboarding, legal, risk, data, and support so investigations move without friction
What We're Looking For
2 to 4 years in AML or CFT investigations, or an FIU role, with at least 2 years directly in sanctions or AML work
Fintech experience, early stage fintech background is a plus
Hands on experience with a transaction monitoring system and case management tool, not just exposure to one
Practical experience with at least one blockchain analytics platform such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or Elliptic, including what you actually traced with it
Familiarity with BSA and FinCEN guidance, EU AML directives and MiCA, and FATF recommendations including the Travel Rule
A track record of writing SAR narratives yourself, not supporting someone else's filing
Full professional English
Nice to Have
Experience at a virtual asset service provider or crypto native platform
Comfort across more than one blockchain analytics tool
Experience supporting SAR filings in more than one regulatory jurisdiction
Tools and Stack
Blockchain analytics platforms such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or Elliptic, alongside a transaction monitoring and case management system.
