Senior Design Manager

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Design Manager with a strong architectural background to lead the planning, development, and delivery of complex building projects in Qatar. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving design excellence, managing multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring projects progress seamlessly from concept development through construction completion. This role requires a visionary design leader who combines creative thinking with technical expertise, capable of delivering innovative architectural solutions that meet client objectives, regulatory requirements, budget constraints, and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of architectural concepts, design strategies, and detailed design solutions for a variety of projects.
• Transform project briefs and client requirements into practical, sustainable, and aesthetically appealing design outcomes.
• Champion design quality and ensure consistency throughout all project stages. 
• Oversee the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and concept design through detailed design, tendering, and construction support.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
• Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions when required to maintain performance objectives. 
• Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to architects, designers, and technical staff.
• Facilitate collaboration among internal teams and external consultants to ensure efficient project execution.
• Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous professional development.
• Direct the development of advanced architectural and technical solutions that address functional, operational, and construction requirements.
• Review and approve design submissions, technical reports, and project documentation.
• Ensure design integrity while balancing cost, constructability, and operational considerations.
• Oversee the preparation and review of drawings, specifications, schedules, and construction documentation.
• Ensure all design deliverables comply with relevant building regulations, local authority requirements, industry codes, and project standards.
• Coordinate design reviews and approvals with regulatory authorities and key stakeholders. 
• Act as the primary design representative for clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and proactive management.
• Present design concepts, project updates, and technical recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Identify design challenges, technical risks, and project constraints early in the design process.
• Develop and implement practical solutions to maintain project objectives and design quality.
• Support value engineering initiatives while preserving the overall design vision.

 

 

• Bachelor's degree in architecture or a related discipline.
• Master's Degree is an advantage.
• Professional registration or membership with a recognized architectural body is preferred. 
• Minimum 10 years of professional architectural experience, with significant exposure to design management and project leadership.
• Proven track record of delivering medium to large-scale building developments.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and coordinating with external consultants and contractors.
• Previous GCC experience, particularly in Qatar, is highly desirable.
• Advanced knowledge of architectural design principles, construction methodologies, and project delivery processes.
• Proficiency in design and documentation software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Navisworks, and BIM platforms.
• Strong understanding of local building regulations, international design standards, and construction best practices.
• Experience reviewing technical documentation and construction drawings.
