The Difference You Make:
The Loan Trading position is responsible for the execution, management, and distribution of leveraged loans and other syndicated credit products in the secondary market. The individual will actively manage trading risk, provide liquidity to clients, develop investor relationships, and collaborate with banking, syndications, sales, and research teams to optimize portfolio returns and support client needs. The role requires deep expertise across leveraged finance, institutional loans, distressed credit, and broader syndicated loan markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute secondary market purchases and sales of syndicated loans, leveraged loans, and other credit products on behalf of the firm and its clients.
- Manage trading inventory and risk exposures while maximizing risk-adjusted profitability within established limits.
- Develop and maintain relationships with institutional investors, CLO managers, hedge funds, mutual funds, insurance companies, and other market participants.
- Provide market color, liquidity solutions, and trade ideas to internal and external clients.
- Partner closely with Leveraged Finance, Syndications, Credit Risk, and Coverage teams to facilitate primary and secondary market transactions.
- Monitor market trends, credit developments, issuer fundamentals, and relative value opportunities across the loan market.
- Evaluate new issue opportunities and secondary trading strategies through fundamental and technical credit analysis.
- Negotiate trade terms, documentation, settlements, and allocations while ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
- Contribute to portfolio positioning, inventory management, and balance sheet optimization initiatives.
- Mentor junior traders and analysts while supporting the development of the broader credit trading franchise.
What You Bring
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field required.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in loan trading, leveraged finance, credit trading, syndicated loans, or related capital markets activities.
- Demonstrated success trading leveraged loans and syndicated credit products across varying market environments.
- Strong understanding of loan market structure, trading conventions, settlement processes, and documentation.
- Experience managing risk positions and generating P&L within a regulated financial institution.
- Deep knowledge of credit underwriting, financial statement analysis, and relative value assessment.
- Established relationships with key institutional investors and buy-side market participants.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, including financial modeling and valuation analysis.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced trading environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate across trading, sales, banking, syndications, and risk management teams.
- High proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg, market analytics, and trading systems.
- Self-starter with strong commercial instincts and a demonstrated ability to identify market opportunities.
Preferred Experience
- Trading experience across leveraged loans, high yield bonds, distressed credit, private credit, or structured credit products.
- Understanding of CLOs and institutional loan investor behavior.
- Experience participating in both primary syndication and secondary loan markets.
- Proven track record of building and growing client relationships and trading revenues.
Certifications
- CFA, FINRA Series 7, Series 63, Series 79, or equivalent licenses preferred where applicable.

What Else You Need To Know:
The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
