Job Description

Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison is a field-based scientific expert responsible for high-quality scientific exchange and strategic engagement with external stakeholders in the countries of NOLA. The role will contribute to launch readiness by strengthening scientific understanding, identifying educational and evidence needs, and building trusted relationships with leading specialists, investigators, multidisciplinary hospital teams, institutions and scientific societies.

Key Responsibilities

·   Develop and execute a territory scientific engagement plan aligned with country and regional medical priorities, stakeholder needs and agreed outcomes.

·   Build and sustain trusted, peer-to-peer scientific relationships with leading specialists, investigators, healthcare professionals, scientific societies and relevant healthcare decision-makers.

·   Conduct high-quality, balanced and non-promotional scientific exchange, responding accurately to unsolicited medical questions and adapting communication to the needs of expert audiences.

·   Maintain deep and current scientific knowledge; critically appraise clinical evidence, treatment pathways, emerging data and changes in the healthcare environment.

·   Gather, document, synthesize and communicate actionable field insights, unmet needs, evidence gaps and barriers to care that can inform medical strategy and execution.

·   Contribute to prelaunch and launch readiness by mapping priority stakeholders and institutions, identifying scientific knowledge gaps, supporting educational initiatives and monitoring healthcare-environment readiness.

·   Develop strong engagement with hospital-based specialists, multidisciplinary teams, institutional pharmacists, diagnostic stakeholders and decision-makers involved in complex patient-care pathways.

·   Identify barriers to evidence adoption and appropriate patient management, and propose compliant medical actions that address genuine stakeholder needs.

·   Support medical education, advisory boards, congress activities and scientific meetings, ensuring scientific rigor, appropriate governance and compliant execution.

·   Support evidence-generation activities, investigator-initiated research, site identification and feasibility discussions, as applicable and within role-defined responsibilities.

·   Collaborate with Medical, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Market Access and Commercial colleagues in a matrix environment while protecting the independence and non-promotional mandate of Medical Affairs.

·   Maintain accurate stakeholder and activity records in approved systems and fulfill all pharmacovigilance, product quality and compliance reporting obligations within required timelines.

Required Qualifications

·   Medical Doctor with advanced health-related degree or Life-sciences bachelor (Pharmacy, Biomedicine, Nurse) with MSc in a related field. .

·   At least 2 years of relevant experience in Medical Affairs, a MSL or comparable field medical role, clinical practice, clinical research, academia, or the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

·   Demonstrated ability to interpret complex clinical evidence and communicate it credibly and clearly to specialist audiences.

·   Proven record of AI fluency with clear examples of LLM use and/or agent creation. Desirable experience with Copilot and Claude.

·   Strong relationship-building, active listening, presentation, influencing and stakeholder-management skills.

·   Understanding of scientific exchange, clinical research, pharmaceutical industry compliance, pharmacovigilance and medical governance requirements.

·   Proficiency with digital tools for stakeholder engagement, insight capture, collaboration and data management.

·   Intermediate to advanced professional English proficiency for scientific communication and regional collaboration.

·   A valid driver license when required for field activities and willingness to travel frequently within the country.

Preferred Experience

·   Previous MSL or field medical experience supporting a prelaunch, launch or major lifecycle milestone.

·   Experience engaging hospital-based specialists and institutions and communicating complex efficacy, safety and implementation evidence.

·   Knowledge of the Colombian public and private healthcare environment, institutional decision-making and patient-care pathways.

·   Field medical experience across more than one market or healthcare system in Latin America.

·   Experience engaging different specialists and institutional stakeholders around complex clinical evidence and patient-care pathways.

Experience supporting medical education, research, data dissemination or scientific activities across a regional or cluster structure.
