Job Description
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Ensure the implementation of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) programs and controls that guarantee compliance with all EHS regulations and standards (internal and external), while ensuring the safety and well-being of colleagues.
- Establish and implement strategic direction, robust systems, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to demonstrate the achievement of objectives and maintain compliance with all EHS regulations, codes, industry practices, and company standards.
- Develop strategies and drive continuous improvement through appropriate frameworks to build a sustainable EHS culture at UGS Algiers and engage stakeholders to ensure safe site operations.
- Identify and lead communications with site management regarding EHS investment projects aimed at improving existing conditions that present safety risks or regulatory compliance concerns.
- Manage EHS-related projects and ensure their completion within established timelines.
- Coach the site's EHS assessors and ambassadors, providing feedback focused on their strengths and development plans.
- Escalate critical issues.
Reports to: Algiers Site Leader
Key Interactions:
- With the Site Leader: Implement site objectives and strategic plans, achieve annual targets, and improve the site's EHS key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
- With SLT members (Site Leadership Team): Ensure SLT engagement in EHS-related plans and programs, strengthen and enhance their ownership of EHS responsibilities, and foster an improved EHS culture within their teams.
- With EHS Above-Site Leaders: Implement strategic EHS objectives and goals. Report site metrics and data, and provide feedback as required.
- With IMEx/OpEx: Ensure that EHS metrics and requirements are reflected at all levels of the site through the IMEx framework, and ensure that IMEx activities and actions are completed in accordance with the site plan.
- With Procurement: Secure all EHS-related supplies and services required to support site operations.
Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
- Industrial Safety Engineer or holder of another relevant technical degree (Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position.
- ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 certification would be an advantage.
- Strong background in supervision or management roles within the pharmaceutical industry
Robust people management skills
Proactive approach in engaging with key stakeholders
Experience in managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements):
Advanced degree (Master's, PhD, JD, MD, DVM) in a relevant field
Experience in talent management and development
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to drive innovation and manage change
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory compliance
Ability to manage Pfizer direct reports effectively
Strong leadership and team-building skills
Experience in strategic planning and execution
Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and enhance productivity. Demonstrated curiosity for exploring how these tools can improve outcomes and understanding of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
