39 - Senior PHP Developer

Our client builds the platform that turns that data into useful insight, helping healthcare organisations plan capacity, schedule care and run their processes better every day. They're looking for a Senior PHP Engineer who wants to take ownership of real technical challenges, build new functionality from idea to production, and help the developers around them grow.

What you'll be doing

• Expanding and continuously improving applications built on Symfony and Laravel

• Prioritising work together with your team and the Product Owner, and proposing new functionality you then get to build

• Experimenting freely: good ideas get a listening ear and budget behind them

• Owning technical challenges and discussing design decisions openly with your colleagues

• Coaching less experienced developers through code reviews and technical sparring sessions

• Building software that processes large volumes of healthcare data, where reliability, performance and maintainability really matter

The team

You'll join one of three scrum teams, working alongside experienced data warehouse developers, front-end developers, information analysts and testers. The wider team also includes UX/UI designers, mathematicians and consultants, so you'll spar daily with people from different disciplines and keep each other up to date on developments in your fields.

Tech stack

PHP (Symfony, Laravel), VueJS, MySQL, PHPUnit, Docker, Git, GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes, Linux and Windows environments

What you bring

• A completed bachelor's degree (HBO level or equivalent)

• At least 5 years of relevant experience as a PHP developer, handling complex challenges

• Solid experience with Symfony or Laravel

• Strong knowledge of OOP and design patterns

• Strong SQL skills in combination with MySQL databases

• Experience with Docker and Git, and familiarity with both Linux and Windows systems

• Hands-on experience with VueJS, PHPUnit, GitLab CI/CD and Kubernetes

• A self-starter mindset: you take ownership within your team and projects, and you don't wait around

• You break the silence and actively seek collaboration, including during remote work periods

• Natural energy, and you enjoy bringing colleagues along as you piece the puzzle together
