The Senior Manager, SAP GMX Data & Analytics Solutions is accountable for the end-to-end leadership, delivery, governance, and strategic evolution of GMX-enabled data and analytics capabilities supporting global financial, operational, and compliance-critical reporting.

This role serves as a senior point of accountability for GMX data solutions, including SAP BW, SAP BPC, SAP S/4HANA integrations.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

In order of importance, the primary responsibilities that are critical to the performance of this role:

 

People Leadership and Vendor Management

  • Lead, mentor, and provide direction to matrix colleagues, analysts, managers, contractors, and vendor resources supporting GMX data and analytics work.
  • Set priorities, manage capacity, review deliverables, and ensure high-quality execution across internal and external resources.
  • Manage vendor execution, deliverable quality, responsiveness, documentation, and adherence to Pfizer standards.
  • Support sourcing, onboarding, knowledge transfer, succession planning, and continuity for critical GMX analytics capabilities.

SAP GMX Solution Delivery Ownership and strategic accountability

  • Own the global GMX data, analytics, and reporting solution portfolio across SAP BW, SAP BPC, SAP S/4HANA integrations, and related reporting platforms.
  • Serve as a senior Digital point of accountability for GMX-enabled analytics, reporting, reconciliation, and certification capabilities.
  • Provide strategic direction for GMX solution design, data architecture, reporting enablement, operational stability, and modernization.
  • Ensure GMX solutions support critical Finance, Controllers, Supply Chain, and enterprise reporting needs.
  • Drive roadmap planning for GMX data and analytics capabilities, balancing strategic transformation, regulatory expectations, business demand, and operational continuity.
  • Provide senior judgment on complex GMX data issues, financial reporting dependencies, SAP integration risks, and cross-functional process impacts.

Portfolio, Demand, and Prioritization Management

  • Manage the GMX demand pipeline in partnership with business stakeholders, Digital leads, and portfolio governance teams.
  • Evaluate incoming work based on business value, urgency, regulatory/compliance impact, technical feasibility, and resource capacity.
  • Define delivery roadmaps that balance transformation initiatives, business enhancements, regulatory needs, and BAU stability.

Stakeholder Engagement and Business Partnership

  • Act as a senior GMX solution subject matter leader for Finance, Controllers, Digital, SAP platform teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional governance discussions, design reviews, roadmap planning sessions, escalation forums, and executive-ready updates.
  • Translate complex SAP, Finance, GMX, and data architecture topics into business-oriented recommendations and decisions.
  • Influence senior stakeholders to align priorities, solution direction, risk mitigation, and adoption strategies.
  • Communicate clearly on status, risks, decisions, dependencies, and outcomes at senior leadership levels.
  • Build trusted partnerships across business, Digital, compliance, and vendor teams to drive sustainable business value.

Delivery Leadership and Operational Excellence

  • Lead end-to-end delivery across requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, stabilization, and support transition.
  • Provide senior oversight for multiple initiatives, ensuring delivery quality, consistency, documentation, and production readiness.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and long-term remediation for recurring production issues, data defects, reconciliation breaks, and process inefficiencies.
  • Ensure development work follows approved standards, naming conventions, code review practices, testing expectations, and release governance.
  • Improve operational processes through automation, monitoring, standardization, knowledge management, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure business-critical GMX processes have appropriate support coverage, escalation paths, and continuity planning.

Governance, Controls, Compliance and Audit Readiness

  • Establish and maintain governance standards for GMX data, analytics, reporting, certifications, reconciliations, and documentation.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to SDLC, change control, testing, validation, audit, compliance, and data governance requirements.
  • Maintain ownership of audit-ready artifacts, process documentation, design decisions, control evidence, and operational playbooks.
  • Partner with compliance, audit, quality, Finance, and technical teams to address control gaps and improve traceability.
  • Ensure testing strategies include unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, reconciliation validation, business acceptance, and production readiness.
  • Provide senior-level risk assessment and mitigation planning for production issues, compliance concerns, data integrity risks, and business-impacting defects.

Communication, Escalation, and Executive Readiness

  • Provide clear and concise status updates to leadership on delivery progress, risks, issues, decisions, and business impact.
  • Prepare materials for governance forums, steering discussions, stakeholder reviews, and operational checkpoints.
  • Escalate critical risks and system issues in a timely and structured manner, including recommended mitigation options.
  • Drive adoption through demos, knowledge-sharing sessions, training support, and stakeholder engagement.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in SAP BW, SAP BPC, Finance data solutions, enterprise reporting, or data platform delivery with hands-on leadership on following:
    • Data Ingestion: DataSources, ODQ, InfoPackages, DTPs, process chains, and delta load management.
    • Data Modeling: Advanced DSOs, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, Analytic Indexes, and ABAP transformation routines (start, end, expert routines).
    • BW Query Development: BEx Query Designer or BW Modeling Tools, calculated/restricted key figures, variables (replacement path, customer exit, SAP exit), exceptions, and conditions.
    • Analysis for Office (AfO): building and maintaining AfO workbooks and input-ready planning templates for end-users.
    • Planning Functions: BPC planning functions, FOX formula scripts, data manager packages, planning sequences, and input schedules.
    • In depth ABAP programming knowledge
    • Troubleshooting: end-to-end issue diagnosis across extraction, transformation, loading, query performance, and BPC planning inconsistencies.
  • Deep experience with GMX, EarnIn, Finance close, certifications, reconciliations, or related financial reporting processes.
    • Demonstrated experience with SAP BPC (Standard or Embedded) including planning model configuration, logic scripts/FOX formulas, input schedules, and consolidation processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing direct reports, or providing formal work direction to matrixed and/or contracted resources.
    • Functional knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Sales & Distribution (SD): pricing condition technique (condition types, condition tables, access sequences, pricing procedures, condition records).
    • Working knowledge of SAP Material Master data concepts: material types, plant and sales organization views, valuation class, pricing-relevant fields, classification/characteristics, and their relevance to BW extraction and reporting.
    • Finance domain knowledge in Product Costing (CO-PC): standard cost estimates, cost component structures, material ledger/actual costing, and variance analysis; and General Ledger (FI-GL): G/L account master data, document types, posting keys, and period-end closing processes.
    • Understanding of Finance master data governance: company codes, controlling areas, cost centers, profit centers, and G/L account master data structures.
    • Exceptional verbal, written communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse technical and business teams.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing competing priorities.
  • Experience with SOX, GMP, audit, compliance, validation, or financial control expectations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • SAP certification in BW, BPC, or SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
  • Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) or SAP BOBJ tools
  • Demonstrated ability to develop roadmaps, manage portfolio demand, and communicate delivery outcomes to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical, life sciences, or regulated industry.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $124,400.00 to $207,400.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
