In this role, you will apply deep expertise in software systems design architecture to translate complex customer workflows into precise technical design specifications. Serving as a servant leader to an agile team, you will own the delivery of design inputs, champion concept generation, and ensure final software deliverables meet rigorous quality standards and real-world clinical outcomes in a collaborative, self-organizing environment.
The Opportunity:
- Partner closely with business and software development teams to translate high-level business objectives, customer requirements, and user needs into clear, detailed software design specifications.
- Interact regularly with implementation teams to ensure delivered features align with design specifications and the overall product architectural vision, providing technical guidance as needed.
- Manage, refine, and prioritize the product backlog in collaboration with business stakeholders, ensuring user stories are well-defined, estimated, and aligned with project goals.
- Facilitate backlog grooming and Program Increment (PI) planning sessions, defining clear acceptance criteria for user story acceptance and completion.
- Provide development teams with detailed design specifications developed in collaboration with Program Management and System Architects, empowering teams to operate independently and effectively.
- Apply deep expertise to elicit, evaluate, specify, and validate requirements for complex software systems, ensuring complete documentation, traceability, and alignment with business goals.
- Develop comprehensive use cases capturing functional requirements, user interactions, alternate flows, exception handling, system integration complexities, and edge cases.
- Define activity diagrams, user interactions, and acceptance criteria that clearly communicate intended system behavior to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Champion customer centricity, built-in software quality, holistic system design thinking, and technical excellence across development teams.
- Present complex technical data, design concepts, and product backlog strategies to diverse internal and external audiences, while reviewing and critiquing team presentations.
- Consult on software systems design and development issues, contributing to strategic direction and driving creative technology applications.
- Model a constructive and professional speak-up culture within a self-organizing team environment.
- Monitor work to drive a "Quality First Time" mindset, ensuring strict compliance with medical device software lifecycle standards (e.g., IEC 62304) and digital pathology workflows.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated subject matter expertise in complex software systems, systems thinking, creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements and customer needs into robust software design using expert practices in requirements management, systems design, user experience (UX) development, and usability.
- Demonstrated track record of mentoring team members in requirements management, systems design, user experience development, and usability best practices.
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and build consensus around optimal solutions that align customer value with business goals.
- Deep understanding of internal company design practices, combined with the ability to apply industry best practices and external benchmarks.
- Skilled in prioritizing engineering effort based on empirical evidence, data-driven decisions, and lean design principles.
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to listen attentively to stakeholder concerns before offering recommendations or decisions.
- Knowledge of information security and data privacy fundamentals.
- Willingness and ability to travel based on business needs.
- English: Full Professional Proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations when balancing complex design alternatives against business, budget, and technical constraints.
- Demonstrated proficiency in documenting software systems design using Unified Modeling Language (UML).
- Recognized reputation as a domain subject matter expert, demonstrated by sustained performance and significant career accomplishments.
- SAFe® Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification or equivalent Scaled Agile Framework experience.
