Project Executive - Instrumentation

Position Title: Project Executive – Instrumentation & Digital Infrastructure
Department: Engineering / Manufacturing
Location: Mysore Beverages Factory

Role Purpose :
The Project Executive - Instrumentation & Digital Infrastructure is responsible for the execution and management of instrumentation, automation, and digitalization projects across the process plant. The role ensures high reliability and availability of instrumentation systems, supports maintenance activities, and drives digital transformation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, process control, safety, and data visibility.

The position supports end-to-end manufacturing operations including:

• Roasting
• Extraction
• Filtration
• Evaporation
• Spray Drying
• Utility Systems (Boilers, Water Treatment, Compressed Air, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Power Distribution, Fuel Systems)
• Packaging Operations
• Digital Manufacturing and Smart Factory Initiatives

Key Responsibilities

1. Instrumentation Maintenance & Reliability

• Ensure high availability and reliability of all field instrumentation across process and utility areas.
• Maintain and troubleshoot:
• Flow transmitters Pressure transmitters Temperature sensors (RTD/Thermocouples) Level transmitters Analytical instruments Weighing systems Control valves VFDs and actuators
• Carry out calibration, validation, loop checking, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Develop calibration schedules and ensure compliance with quality requirements.
• Maintain instrument history, breakdown records, and reliability dashboards.
• Drive root cause analysis for recurring instrumentation failures.

2. Process Automation & Control Systems

• Support and maintain PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems across manufacturing operations.
• Modify and optimize PLC logic to improve process stability and operability.
• Develop automation solutions to reduce operator dependency and improve process consistency.
• Manage plant interlocks, permissives, alarm management, and safety controls.
• Lead commissioning and startup activities for automation projects.
• Support process control optimization and advanced control applications.
• Ensure backup and restoration of automation systems.

3. Utilities Instrumentation & Energy Optimization

Support automation and instrumentation of utility systems:

Steam & Boiler Systems

• Boiler combustion optimization
• Steam flow measurement
• Condensate recovery systems
• Fuel management systems

4. Digital Manufacturing & Industry 4.0

Drive the factory's digital transformation agenda by implementing:

• IoT-enabled monitoring systems
• Smart sensors
• Digital dashboards
• Predictive maintenance systems
• Asset performance monitoring
• Advanced analytics
• Digital Twin applications
• Process optimization models
• AI/ML-based manufacturing solutions

6. OT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity

• Maintain OT systems and industrial networks.
• Ensure secure communication between IT and OT environments.
• Implement OT cybersecurity standards.
• Maintain:
• Network switches Servers SCADA infrastructure industrial PCs Data historians
• Support disaster recovery and backup procedures.

8. Continuous Improvement

• Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Reduce process variability.
• Improve coffee yield and extraction efficiency.
• Support utility cost reduction initiatives.
• Drive autonomous maintenance and operator capability enhancement.
• Implement predictive and condition-based maintenance practices.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with:
• Process Safety Standards Electrical Safety Standards Food Safety Requirements GMPFSS AI Environmental Standards OT Cybersecurity Standards
• Participate in HAZOP, risk assessments, and safety audits.
• Ensure all automation modifications follow Management of Change (MOC) requirements.
