The Role:
Reporting to the VP of Finance & Operations, the Director of Data will own the end-to-end data stack across GTM (Sales, Customer Success, Strategy), Marketing, Finance, and Product. You will partner closely with the executive team to build centralized sources of truth for the company's most important metrics and stand up the data infrastructure that helps Patlytics scale past $50-100M+ in ARR. You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves as an individual contributor while designing and building the data function from the ground up. A trusted partner within the business and to the executive team, you will turn fragmented data across systems into the single, reliable foundation on which the company plans, reports, and operates. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to embark on a journey with a fast-growing company and deliver on highly impactful work - even better if you've seen this growth play out before and want to join at an earlier stage.
What You'll Accomplish:
Data Infrastructure & Engineering: Design, build, and own the modern data stack end-to-end - ingestion, warehousing, transformation, orchestration, and analysis/BI. You'll architect scalable pipelines that connect source systems across GTM, Marketing, Finance, and Product into a governed, centralized warehouse built to support the company well past $50-100M+ ARR.
Single Source of Truth: Define, document, and maintain the canonical metrics that run the business - ARR, pipeline, retention, usage, unit economics - so that Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Marketing, and Product are all operating off the same numbers. You'll build the metrics dictionary, own data quality and reconciliation, and eliminate the version-control chaos of competing spreadsheets and siloed datasets.
Analytics & Visualization: Deliver the reporting and dashboard layer that gives the executive team, board, and department leaders real-time visibility into performance. You'll pair strong data analysis with clear visualization to surface the "aha" insights that influence big business decisions.
Tools & Automation: You have an eye for technology and efficiency and will help Patlytics build out its data infrastructure for scale - increasing automation, reducing manual reporting, and lowering the risk of errors. You'll evaluate and select vendors, oversee implementations and integrations, and enhance checks and controls across the stack.
Business Partnering / Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the data partner to the executive team and department leaders - translating business questions into data models, instrumenting new initiatives, and supporting planning, forecasting, and board reporting with trusted data.
Ad-Hoc Projects: Assist in the planning and execution of key operational projects such as performance dashboards, custom reporting by dimension for different departments, GTM funnel instrumentation, pricing and usage analyses, and diligence-ready data packages.
Who You Are:
Experience:
7+ years of experience in data engineering, data infrastructure, analytics engineering, or equivalent. Additionally, you have high-growth SaaS / Technology company experience in the range of $30-150M+ in ARR - you've seen what breaks at scale and know how to build ahead of it.
Strong competency in data infrastructure and data engineering, with complementary skills in data analysis and governance - you can build the pipes and tell the story of what flows through them.
Strong fluency and familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, Clickhouse, Hubspot, Salesforce, Quickbooks, Fivetran, dbt, Netsuite, and mySQL - you will identify where automation can be leveraged, help select vendors, and oversee implementation as applicable.
Experience partnering across GTM, Marketing, Finance, and Product, with a working understanding of AI and SaaS business models and the metrics that matter to each function.
You have:
A design / infrastructure mindset - you look at how data models, pipelines, and reports are built, think about how they can be architected better and what data feeds them, and how to connect tools and information harmoniously.
A 'do-er' mentality with high motor and energy - you are a highly resourceful self-starter who takes charge, rolls your sleeves up, and gets the job done as an individual contributor while building for scale.
An obsession with data accuracy and meticulous attention to detail - you take pride in every number being right, reconciled, and trusted across the company.
A strong ability to develop, document, and build frameworks to enable scalability of a fast-growing company.
A passion for data-driven discussions and giving the business a narrative - you find ways to bring deep insights that influence big business decisions, and executives trust your recommendations.
An excitement to work in a fast-moving and growing company - you are highly adaptable and understand startup environments.
An ability to communicate crisply across altitudes - equally comfortable presenting metrics to the board and debating schema design with engineers
This role is NOT for you if:
You're looking for a 9-5.
You're unable to build processes and infrastructure in chaotic, hypergrowth environments where “the plane is being built in flight” - ambiguity and speed are features of this role, not bugs.
