Job Description

At Eataly, this position is referred to as a Sous Chef Lead. A Lead in our Central Kitchen transforms high-quality, unique ingredients into authentic Italian dishes through preparing, cooking and packaging food items in Eataly’s exciting, high-volume production kitchen to be used at various Eataly restaurants and outlets. The Lead Cook assists in overseeing other prep cooks and daily task lists. Reports to the Sous Chef Manager.

  • Oversees other prep cooks and ensures performance standards
  • Portions, cuts, slices, dips, batters, breads, whips, beats, maintains holding temperature, fries and sautés
  • Selects cuts of meat, poultry, shellfish, fish, game or vegetables to be used for frying or sautéing
  • Packages items along with appropriate garnish
  • Follows recipes and complies with portion sizes, quality standards, department rules and procedures, and Department of Health regulations
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

 

  • 2+ years of experience in a production kitchen
  • Previous experience working in a leadership role is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or degree from post-secondary culinary arts program preferred

Job requirements

  • Availability to work onsite with a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and exert well-paced mobility
  • Ability to spend up to 8 hours standing or walking in a kitchen and restaurant environment
  • Ability to work with commercial equipment including stand mixers, ovens, torches, etc.

Hourly Compensation: $21 - $23
