GTM Lead
San Francisco · Posted 1h ago
Job Description
About the Role
A fast-moving, seed-stage AI infrastructure startup — backed by top-tier investors and already hitting product-market fit ahead of schedule — is hiring its first GTM Lead. Demand is outpacing supply, and this is your chance to own the entire go-to-market function from day one at a four-person team in San Francisco.
You'll work directly with the founding team to build marketing from the ground up, tune the sales pipeline, and run the GTM operations that prove what's working. This is a deeply hands-on role: you do the work yourself before you build a team around you. The company operates in the AI/ML developer tooling and agent infrastructure space, and the audience is technical — engineers and platform teams who can spot marketing fluff immediately.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
What You'll Do
Own marketing end-to-end: positioning, messaging, content, launches, and demand generation.
Co-own brand story and direction with the founding team, execute the strategy, and iterate based on results.
Tune the sales pipeline — analyze how leads arrive, get qualified, and where they stall, then fix the bottlenecks.
Run constant experiments and let data drive decisions; build and maintain marketing judgment through volume of A/B tests, not theory.
Reach a highly technical audience authentically — engineers and platform teams who reject marketing speak.
Handle GTM ops: tooling, tracking, and reporting that surface what's actually working.
Write copy, build email sequences, and read the numbers yourself until the motion is proven.
Hire and lead marketers under you once the playbook is validated.
What We're Looking For
Must-haves:
3+ years of hands-on B2B growth marketing experience, with direct involvement in taking a company from Series A through Series B — in the room making decisions, not adjacent to them.
Proven ability to build and execute end-to-end B2B marketing functions: positioning, messaging, content, demand generation, and pipeline optimization.
Deep technical fluency — you can explain complex infrastructure or developer tooling concepts to engineers without a translator.
Demonstrated track record running A/B tests and experiments with the ability to make confident, data-driven decisions.
Hands-on execution experience: writing copy, building email sequences, and managing GTM operations independently.
Experience with GTM analytics, pipeline tracking, and reporting infrastructure.
Experience marketing to technical audiences (engineers, platform teams, infrastructure buyers) without resorting to marketing clichés.
Experience with sales pipeline optimization: lead qualification, bottleneck identification, and conversion improvement.
Strong advantages:
Background in developer tools, infrastructure, or platform companies.
Published technical writing under your own name — newsletter, Substack, blog, or documentation with a real readership.
Experience leading a company through a repositioning or rebrand, with measurable impact on metrics.
Prior experience hiring and managing marketing team members, even a small team.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $180,000+ USD annually, commensurate with experience.
Equity participation in a well-funded seed-stage company with strong investor backing.
Opportunity to build and eventually lead a marketing function from the ground up.
Location
This role is on-site in San Francisco, CA. Candidates must be based in San Francisco or willing to relocate. Remote work is not available for this position.
