Job Description

Our mission At Electrogenos, we're building technology to make green hydrogen competitive at scale. We focus on reducing the cost and complexity of hydrogen production so it can replace fossil-based alternatives across real-world applications. We're an early-stage team working at the intersection of electrochemistry, manufacturing, and deployment. About The Role We're looking for an Office and Operations Manager to keep Milton Park running and to be the person the founders and the technical team rely on day-to-day. You'll look after the office, lab, and workshop environment, handle the administration that keeps a small company organised, coordinate with suppliers, and support the CTO with diaries, travel, and meetings. You'll be sitting alongside scientists and engineers, so you'll see how a deep-tech company actually works from the inside — and you'll have direct contact with the founders from day one. We don't expect you to arrive knowing everything. What we need is someone who is well organised, communicates clearly, follows things through, and doesn't need to be chased. You'll be part of the wider global operations team, so you'll also work with colleagues outside the UK on day-to-day administrative and coordination tasks. Tasks Office, lab, and workshop Keep the Milton Park site running — supplies, deliveries, visitors, contractors, keeping shared spaces in order Be the first point of contact for building matters and site logistics Help maintain health and safety records with input from the technical team Founder and team support Support the CTO with diary management, meeting scheduling, and travel bookings Organise meetings: circulate agendas, take notes, and follow up on actions until they're closed Help new joiners settle in — equipment, accounts, induction paperwork Handle basic HR administration such as holiday records and personnel files Procurement and suppliers Raise purchase orders, track deliveries, and chase anything outstanding Get quotes and help find new suppliers when the team needs something unfamiliar Keep an eye on lab and workshop stock alongside the technical team so nothing runs out Administration and documents Keep company files, trackers, and shared drives tidy and up to date Help collect inputs and paperwork for grant reports and financial claims Prepare and format documents for partners, investors, and events Suggest and help tidy up the small day-to-day processes that make the office work better Essential Skills The right to work in the UK without sponsorship Experience in an office, administrative, or coordination role Well organised and reliable — you can hold several things at once without dropping any of them Follow-through — when you're asked to chase something, it gets done Clear written and spoken communication; comfortable politely reminding people, including senior colleagues, that something is overdue Confident with everyday business tools: spreadsheets, email, calendars, shared drives Sensible and resourceful — you'll ask when you need to, and work it out when you can Comfortable being around a lab and technical work; you don't need a science background, but a workshop shouldn't put you off Comfortable with procurement: purchase orders, suppliers, deliveries Happy in a broad, varied role where the tasks change week to week Desirable Skills Exposure to a university research group, lab, or R&D environment Previous startup or small-company experience Your profile You're early in your career — perhaps a recent graduate, or one to two years into working life — and you want a job with real variety and responsibility rather than one narrow task repeated. You might have worked in a university department, run the logistics for a student society or sports club, done admin or coordination work alongside your studies, or spent a year in an office role and found you were the person everyone came to when something needed sorting. The common thread: you close the loop. You send the reminder, update the tracker, chase the missing form, and tell people when something is late. You're interested in science and technology even if it isn't your background. Why us? Work directly with the founders in a team of around ten people Learn how a deep-tech company runs — procurement, grant-funded projects, manufacturing, hiring — from the inside Part of a global operations team, so you'll work with colleagues across the business, not just Milton Park Genuine variety: no two days look the same Room to grow as the company grows, with training and support along the way Mission-driven team building real technology for the energy transition Competitive salary and benefits for an early-career role
