What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Civil Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and delivering civil and structural engineering solutions across the transmission network. Working on major infrastructure projects, you will provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable engineering outcomes.

  • Lead and support the civil engineering design of transmission infrastructure projects.

  • Develop engineering specifications, calculations, drawings and technical documentation.

  • Deliver designs for earthworks, access roads, drainage, concrete foundations, steel structures and buildings.

  • Review technical requirements, tender submissions and contractor proposals.

  • Provide technical support during project development and construction phases.

  • Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation, industry standards and safety requirements.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver integrated project solutions.

  • Drive innovation, continuous improvement and the adoption of industry best practice.

  • Support the development and delivery of technical and safety training where required.

What You'll Bring

  • Degree or HND in Civil, Structural or a related Engineering discipline, with relevant industry experience.

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or actively working towards professional accreditation.

  • Experience delivering civil engineering designs for transmission or distribution network projects.

  • Knowledge of earthworks, drainage, foundations, access roads, structures and industrial buildings.

  • Understanding of sustainability principles, carbon reduction and BIM methodologies.

  • Experience using industry-standard software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD Pro and TEDDS.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and health and safety requirements within engineering design.

  • Experience working to utility, energy or infrastructure industry standards.

Minimum Criteria

  • Degree or diploma in Civil or Structural Engineering with relevant experience.

  • Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status or working towards professional membership.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Flexibility to travel and undertake occasional work away from home.

  • Ability to adapt working hours to meet project and business requirements.
