Back-End Java & Cloud Engineer – MediorLocation: Brussels, BelgiumWork arrangement: Hybrid — minimum 2 days/week onsite presence in BrusselsAbout the roleWe are looking for a Medior Back-End Java & Cloud Engineer to join a multidisciplinary IT team supporting.You will work on modern, cloud-native applications across customer-facing platforms, API backends, and integration layers. The role combines Java backend development, cloud infrastructure and DevOps, with responsibility for delivering services from development through deployment and operation.Main ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, document, and release Java-based features and API services.Build scalable and secure microservices using Java 17–21 and Spring Boot 3.x.Design and implement cloud-native solutions on Azure or AWS.Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform or equivalent IaC tools.Containerize applications with Docker and deploy them on Kubernetes.Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure Pipelines or GitLab CI/CD.Implement REST APIs and event-driven integrations.Contribute to batch-processing solutions and messaging architectures.Investigate and resolve incidents in collaboration with functional teams.Participate in a rotating weekly on-call/guard duty.Contribute to architectural decisions and continuously improve performance, reliability, and security.Key RequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics or a related field.4+ years of professional Java development experience.Strong hands-on experience with:Java 17+ / Java EESpring Boot 3.xMicroservices architectureREST APIsDocker and KubernetesAzure, AWS or another major cloud platformTerraform or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code toolsCI/CD with Azure Pipelines or GitLab CI/CDJUnit and automated testingRelational databasesExperience with messaging technologies such as Kafka, Azure Service Bus or AWS SQS/SNS.Experience with Spring Batch is an advantage.Fluent in French or Dutch, with excellent English proficiency.Nice to HaveExperience with technologies such as ELK, ArgoCD, Keycloak, Kong or JFrog.Other DetailsYou will join an informal, collaborative, and Agile IT team working closely with business stakeholders and other technology teams.
