Role Description

• As a VCF Operations Engineer, you are responsible for the design, engineering, and continuous evolution of VMware Cloud Foundation Operations and VMware Aria capabilities, providing enterprise-wide observability, operational intelligence, and platform governance for large-scale virtualization environments. You define standards for monitoring, capacity analytics, performance optimization, resiliency, compliance, and operational insight, enabling a scalable and data-driven operating model across the VCF platform.
• You lead the engineering transformation from traditional virtualization environments to VMware Cloud Foundation, shaping operational architectures, engineering frameworks, and modernization strategies that support VCF adoption and long-term platform evolution. Working closely with infrastructure, cloud, and engineering teams, you establish best practices, technology standards, and governance models that align with enterprise architecture and regulatory requirements.
• A key focus of the role is platform engineering and automation: You actively evaluate and adopt AI and Generative AI capabilities to accelerate software development, code generation, troubleshooting, operational analytics, documentation, and continuous service improvement.
• As a member of a global engineering organization, you provide technical leadership and strategic direction for VMware Aria and VCF Operations, driving innovation, engineering excellence, and the ongoing advancement of Deutsche Bank's private cloud and virtualization platforms.

Your key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the operational architecture for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), defining enterprise standards for observability, capacity management, performance engineering, resiliency, compliance, and operational governance across global infrastructure platforms.
• Lead the operational transformation from traditional vSphere/vCenter environments to VMware Cloud Foundation, establishing scalable operating models, monitoring frameworks, automation strategies, and best practices that support VCF adoption from versions 5.x through 9.x.
• Drive platform engineering and automation initiatives using PowerCLI, PowerShell, REST APIs, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and AI-assisted development capabilities to improve operational consistency, platform scalability, engineering productivity, and service reliability.
• Define VCF lifecycle management strategies covering platform upgrades, patching, compatibility management, configuration governance, and operational standards, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, technology roadmaps, security requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Architect and continuously enhance enterprise observability solutions, including operational analytics, intelligent monitoring, predictive capacity management, anomaly detection, and operational insights across compute, storage, network, and virtualization domains.
• Leverage AI and Generative AI technologies to accelerate coding, automation engineering, operational analytics, root cause investigation, documentation generation, and continuous platform improvement. Evaluate and integrate emerging AI capabilities into infrastructure engineering and platform operations practices.
• Establish engineering standards, automation frameworks, governance controls, operational reference architectures, and technical patterns for VMware Aria and VMware Cloud Foundation platforms.
• Act as a senior VCF Operations Architect within a global team of engineers and architects, providing technical leadership, operational architecture guidance, engineering governance, and strategic direction for the evolution of Deutsche Bank's enterprise virtualization and private cloud platforms.

Your skills and experience

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Several years of hands-on experience in enterprise data center environments with a strong focus on infrastructure observability, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Operations, virtualization platforms, and automation engineering within large-scale global organizations.
• Expert-level knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware Aria Suite, HCX, and Site Recovery Manager (SRM), including platform observability, operational analytics, capacity management, performance monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Solid experience in infrastructure automation and scripting using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Shell, or similar technologies to develop scalable, repeatable, and engineering-driven solutions.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted software development, automation engineering, code generation, and the application of AI technologies to improve operational efficiency, analytics, troubleshooting, and platform engineering practices.
• Business-fluent English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across a global organization.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and actionable recommendations.
• Excellent team-working, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to work across engineering, architecture, operations, and project teams in a global environment.
• Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
