Specialist II, Authorizations
Remote · Posted 1h ago
Job Description
Grow Therapy is on a mission to serve as the trusted partner for therapists growing their practice, and patients accessing high-quality care. Powered by technology, we are a three-sided marketplace that empowers providers, augments insurance payors, and serves patients. Following the mass increase in depression and anxiety, the need for accessibility is more important than ever. To make our vision for mental healthcare a reality, we’re building a team of entrepreneurs and mission-driven go-getters. Since launching in February 2021, we’ve empowered more than ten thousand therapists and hundreds of thousands of clients across the country and insurance landscape. We’ve raised more than $328Mm in funding, including our Series D, at a $3B valuation from Sequoia Capital, Transformation Capital, TCV, SignalFire, Menlo Ventures, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, and others.
We're looking for an experienced Authorization Specialist II who is passionate about improving the landscape for mental healthcare. This position will help ensure clients get timely access to care by keeping authorization data accurate and current across Grow's behavioral health claims.
You will be responsible for entering and validating authorization packets, resolving missing Client ID and authorization-on-file issues, and auditing BPO throughput and accuracy. You will report directly to the Authorization Supervisor and work closely with the Billing and Eligibility teams. From day one, you'll have real ownership and the opportunity to help build an authorization function that supports Grow's mission of expanding access to mental healthcare.
What You'll Be Doing:
As one of our Authorization Specialists, your responsibilities might evolve over time as we scale. Your initial responsibilities will include:
Processing incoming authorization packets and medical records requests, entering and validating data against source documents.
Resolving missing Client ID and authorization-on-file issues, coordinating with VAMCs, Community Care, and EAP partners as needed.
Auditing BPO authorization entry for accuracy and tracking performance against productivity standards.
Researching and resolving authorization-related claim denials, identifying trends and escalating systemic issues with supporting evidence.
Submitting and tracking RFS forms and other renewal or reauthorization requests.
Maintaining accurate, up-to-date authorization records across internal systems.
Partnering with Billing and Eligibility to keep claims moving cleanly through the Pre-Bill process.
You'll Be a Good Fit If:
You have 2+ years of medical billing, authorization, or patient access experience
You have strong attention to detail and can catch mismatched service types, expired date ranges, and missing session counts before they become denials
You're comfortable working across multiple systems (Fax platforms, EHR, payer portals) at once
You're process-driven and can document decisions accurately at volume, rarely leaving questions unanswered
You're a team player who works closely with Billing and Eligibility to resolve issues quickly
You're comfortable meeting quantitative productivity standards and adapting to changing priorities
You thrive working independently in a fast-paced, still-being-built environment
Bonus Points If You Have:
Prior VA/Community Care Network or government payer authorization experience
Prior EAP authorization experience (Cigna, Octave, or similar)
Experience at a startup or high-growth company
