Job Description
This is an exciting time for Tech within Together as we transform our business with a new end to end platform. Reporting to the Head of Test and working along side two other Test Managers, you will lead quality assurance across Agile teams, defining and executing test strategy, governance, and delivery standards. Acting as the primary contact for test assurance, you will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle and within the context of change and major strides forward within our tech capabilities.
You will oversee test planning, execution, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives, while managing testing across multiple teams and vendors. The role also includes ownership of incidents within your technical area, driving root cause analysis, defect leakage measurement, and process improvements. Additionally, you will maintain a test coverage model, ensuring clear traceability, transparency, and reporting of quality metrics aligned to business objectives.
Typical Duties include:
- Own and drive the test strategy and quality governance across the team
- Act as the primary contact for test assurance within the release train.
- Coordinate with feature teams (including third-party testers) on test planning, execution, and defect management.
- Ensure test approaches are risk-based, standards-aligned, and appropriate for the delivery context.
- Monitor test progress, triage defects, and escalate risks and blockers as needed.
- Track and report on key quality metrics (e.g., test coverage, defect leakage, automation adoption).
- Define and maintain a test coverage model for the team, ensuring traceability to business and technical requirements.
- Take ownership of incidents related to testing within the team, ensuring thorough root cause analysis (RCA) is conducted and that corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
- Identify and implement improvements to testing processes and practices based on incident learnings and delivery retrospectives.
- Work collaboratively with central Automation, Non Functional Test teams to ensure alignment to the programme requirements and to preserve and drive consistent standards
- Validate that Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) are planned and addressed.
- Lead UAT planning and coordination across releases.
- Support Planning to ensure test effort, dependencies, and resources are visible and accounted for.
- Ensure entry/exit criteria are defined and met at each delivery stage.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in testing practices across the team.
- Contribute to the test community of practice and champion quality across the organisation.
- Ensure automation developed by feature teams is integrated into the central framework for reuse.
As the perfect candidate for this role, you will already be an experienced Test Manager with a strong track record of leading test strategy, governance, and delivery within Agile environments. You will be skilled at managing testing across multiple teams, driving quality standards, and partnering with stakeholders to identify, mitigate, and communicate delivery risks. An ISTQB certification, or equivalent testing qualification, is desirable.
We would expect you to have expertise in test planning, defect management, quality metrics, UAT coordination, non-functional testing, and enterprise-scale test automation. Proficiency in tools such as Azure DevOps (ADO), Cypress, Postman, and AccelQ etc would be assumed with a strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern testing practices. We also encourage candidates to apply who have experience in either automation testing, performance testing or experience with AI. knowledge of Developing is also a bonus, but equally non essential.
