Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safety Officer to oversee and implement workplace health, safety, and environmental programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, driving safety initiatives, and fostering a strong safety culture across the organization. The candidate should possess extensive experience in occupational health and safety management within industrial, manufacturing, construction, or engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare detailed reports and implement preventive measures.
  • Lead emergency preparedness initiatives, including evacuation drills, fire safety programs, and crisis response planning.
  • Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to site safety requirements.
  • Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and employee awareness training programs.
  • Maintain safety records, permits, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities and support safety inspections and audits.
  • Ensure availability and proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across work locations.
  • Analyze safety performance metrics and prepare periodic management reports.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement in safety initiatives.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 and other relevant management systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, Diploma in Industrial Safety, or equivalent preferred.
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in HSE/Safety Management.
  • Strong knowledge of local safety regulations, occupational health standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and safety reporting systems.
