Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Cost Manager with 7+ years of experience in cost management, quantity surveying, project controls, and contract administration. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project costs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring financial efficiency, budget adherence, and commercial value while supporting successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Budget Management
- Lead the development of project budgets, cost plans, and estimates.
- Prepare and manage cost forecasts across all project phases.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
- Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize project expenditure without compromising quality.
Cost Control & Financial Reporting
- Monitor project financial performance against approved budgets.
- Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and present monthly cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow analyses.
- Establish and maintain effective cost control procedures and reporting systems.
Procurement & Tender Management
- Lead tendering activities, including preparation of tender documents and bid evaluations.
- Review and negotiate contractor and supplier proposals.
- Ensure procurement activities align with project budgets and commercial objectives.
- Support contractor selection and contract award recommendations.
Contract Administration
- Manage contract administration activities throughout project execution.
- Review and assess change orders, variations, claims, and contractual disputes.
- Ensure contractual compliance and risk mitigation.
- Support negotiation and resolution of commercial issues with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and manage cost-related risks and opportunities.
- Develop mitigation strategies to minimize financial exposure.
- Monitor project contingencies and recommend adjustments as required.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, consultants, and contractors to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Act as a key commercial advisor to project stakeholders.
- Facilitate project review meetings and present commercial performance updates.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in cost management, quantity surveying, commercial management, or project controls.
- Proven experience managing costs for large-scale construction, real estate, industrial, infrastructure, or data center projects.
- Professional certification such as MRICS, RICS, PMP, AACE, CCP, or equivalent is preferred.
