Java Backend Microservices Engineer Location: Manchester Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite mandatory Contract: 6 months Rate: £430 INSIDE IR35 Client: Banking Role Overview We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Microservices Engineer to join a critical project for a leading banking client. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on development experience, excellent problem-solving skills and a proven background building and supporting Java-based microservices within enterprise environments . Key Requirements 8-12 years' commercial Java development experience Banking or financial domain experience - 5+ years Strong hands-on Java 17+ Spring/Spring Boot Strong Microservices development experience GitLab Kubernetes Oracle ActiveMQ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Experience working within banking/financial services environments highly desirable Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with 2 days onsite in Manchester Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain high-quality Java Back End applications Design and build scalable microservices Work closely with technical and business teams to deliver critical banking solutions Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues Contribute to architecture, design and technical decision-making Develop and maintain automated deployment processes Work with Kubernetes and enterprise infrastructure Ensure code quality, performance, security and maintainability This is a hands-on coding role, so candidates must have strong recent Java development experience.
