AEM Backend Developer (m/f/d) – Java, Sling, OSGi, AEM 6.5+ / AEMaaCS

Job Description

We are looking for an AEM Backend Developer with at least three years of relevant experience to build robust backend components and services with Adobe Experience Manager. You will independently translate functional requirements into working solutions and take responsibility for validating your implementation in the staging environment. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers and proactively communicate progress, open questions, and potential risks. Your responsibilities Develop backend logic for AEM components, services, and workflows using Java, Apache Sling, and OSGi. Translate functional requirements into clean, efficient Java code and appropriate OSGi configurations. Write meaningful unit tests with JUnit and Mockito. Integrate third-party systems through REST and SOAP APIs based on the defined architecture. Agree on JSON output and Sling Models with frontend developers before implementation begins. Troubleshoot issues in local and hosted environments using logs and the Felix console. Review your own code and validate it against the requirements, including testing in the staging environment. Keep tickets updated and proactively communicate blockers and potential delays. Your qualifications At least three years of experience in AEM backend development. Experience with Java (J2EE), Apache Sling, OSGi, and Sling Models. Familiarity with AEM 6.5+, AEM as a Cloud Service (AEMaaCS), JCR/Oak, RESTful APIs, JSON, Maven, and Git. Experience writing unit tests with JUnit and Mockito. An independent, quality-focused approach and effective time management. Clear, proactive communication and a collaborative mindset. Attention to errors and technical risks, with an interest in the long-term health of the codebase. Preferred qualifications Adobe Certified Professional – AEM Developer certification. Experience with Cloud Manager and CI/CD pipelines. A solid understanding of HTL/Sightly. Development environment: IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse.
