Purpose of the role

To participate in the day-to-day activities of the Capital Markets division providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.
 

Accountabilities

  • Execution of small research projects, research to support strategic decision making, preparation of presentations and reports to communicate research findings, collaboration with senior management to implement research findings for capital markets, advising a broad range of corporate clients, to deliver holistic, structured solutions.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Participation in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Identification of opportunities, development of business cases, management of the deployment and launch of new products and services for capital markets.
  • Management of client relationships and provision of customer service support to clients and customers, under steadily decreasing supervision, responding to questions about products and services, processing of transactions.
  • Management of the development and implementation of financial models and strategies that support in decision making in Capital Markets.

As a Summer Analyst, you’ll learn from the several specialist areas covering equity and debt origination, loans, structuring, risk management and syndication; these areas operate within the following business units, including Debt Capital Markets (GTC), Risk Solutions Group (GTC), Sustainable Banking Group (GTC), Equity Capital Markets (CM), Fixed Income Syndicate (CM), Leveraged Finance Syndicate (CM) and Leveraged Finance (CM). On this programme, you may work on live deals and deal proposals, prepare new business presentations and earn the art of executing transactions.

Who we're looking for

To be considered for this programme, you must be in your penultimate or final year of your degree, in any discipline.

Ideally, you'll have a keen interest in business and finance and a curiosity to learn. We value resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit, all of which might be showcased through your involvement in extracurricular activities.

Barclays will accept applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK and will provide a skilled worker visa for successful applicants if they meet the Home Office’s eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa. Successful applicants who are not eligible to receive a skilled worker visa, and who we are therefore unable to secure a skilled worker visa for, will be required to have their own legal right to work in the UK on a full-time basis from June 2027 to August 2027.
